Even as the Kutch carnival in the moonlit nights called ‘Rannotsav’ is round the corner, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the revolutionary Pundit Shyamji Krishna Verma Memorial at his birthplace at Mandvi-Kutch, aptly named ‘Kranti Teerth’, on December 13, 2010.
Additional Chief Secretary V.N. Maira took stock of the preparations underway at the site, like laying a motorable road from Mandvi to the beach and erecting haff-a-dozen sheds for the tourists. It will begin with a 200-car rally to begin from Mumbai, reaching Bhuj in Kutch on December 12.
People in their traditional colourful attire from all the villages across the district will bring water in pitchers from all the villages as a token of their offering to the ‘Kranti Sarovar’.
The memorial is projected to be a place of pilgrimage, patriotism, faith and prayer, a source of inspiration for the posterity from the revolutionary, known as krantiveer, for leading India’s freedom struggle.
