Shri Narendra Modi felicitates Shri Mansukhbhai Mandavia in Surat

UPA is Gujarat’s biggest enemy, it is jealous of its progress: Shri Modi

I can feel the pain which Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai felt when they were in the Congress. They never treated these leaders well: Shri Modi

Shri Modi reminds the people about the efforts of the Centre to destroy the federal structure of the nation.

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi came down heavily on the Centre, terming them, “the biggest enemy of Gujarat” and that it envied the development in Gujarat. He also said that the Centre was creating many hurdles and obstacles in the development of Gujarat.

Shri Modi was speaking at the felicitation programme held on honor of Shri Mansukhbhai Mandavia in Surat, who has recently been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. He expressed happiness at the large audience coming to felicitate Shri Mandavia, which he said shows that the decisions of the Gujarat BJP are mature. He said he has full faith that Mansukhbhai has a bright future ahead as he moves to the Rajya Sabha.

Recounting his own example, Shri Modi said that had he not left Gujarat in 1995 he would not have experienced some important facets of India and trends of the world. He said that from 1995-2001, he saw the world very differently and that whatever he saw and learnt in these years he was trying to execute it in Gujarat with successful results.

Shri Modi said that today Gujarat’s development has become a talking point all over the world but still, they have to battle the Government in Delhi in a way that not even an enemy nation has to wage. Shri Modi added that the Centre thought Gujarat will get tired at some point but that will never happen!

During his speech, he asked why is it so that Gujarat is treated like an enemy? Shri Modi opined that certain families get hassled when Gujarat’s name comes up or when it achieves progress. In this regard, he said that he fully understands what Sardar Patel and Morarjibhai Desai would have gone through.“Looking at the treatment being given to Gujarat and its people, I can feel the pain which Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai felt when they were in the Congress. The party never treated these leaders well,” he said.

Shri Modi found it appalling that a state that Gujarat, which is developing and contributing so much to the nation, receives so many hurdles and roadblocks. He reminded those who had gathered that Gujarat produces record cotton but what the farmers get in return is more trouble. Even other industries are suffering due to this attitude of the Centre. He said that just to enrich the coffers of Delhi, states are being targeted.

Speaking on the issue of the federal structure, Shri Modi said that no stone has been left unturned to destroy the federal structure of the nation. He even cited the example of the RPF Act and it was a mentality of usurping maximum power that they are not letting the states work. Commenting on the policy paralysis, Shri Modi said that except troubling the states, no decisions are taken in Delhi, no files are being cleared.

Reminding the people about the anti-Gujarat mindset of the Centre, Shri Modi said that it was the fear of losing women votes that the Centre is stalling his plan to bring piped gas to every household. He added that it doesn’t end there; several works are being stalled. Even in case of the Vibrant Gujarat summits, Congress leaders were writing letters to the Finance Ministry seeking IT notices to those who invest in Gujarat. Shri Modi asked whether they have a problem if development comes to Gujarat and if youngsters are getting jobs?

Shri Modi said it was to resist such efforts to destroy and defame Gujarat that a dedicated worker like Shri Mansukhbhai Mandavia was going to the Rajya Sabha.

Present on the occasion were Shri Mandavia himself, Gujarat BJP President Shri RC Faldu, BJP National Vice President Shri Purushottam Rupala, Cabinet Ministers Smt. Anandiben Patel, Shri Dilip Sanghani, Shri Narottam Patel, Minister of State Shri Saurabh Patel and other dignitaries.
