Congress blocking development in Uttarakhand as it was created despite its opposition: PM Modi at virtual rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a virtual Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Uttarakhand's Haridwar and Dehradun. “First of all, I bow to the country's first CDS General Bipin Rawat ji. I bow to every hero who took inspiration from the land of Uttarakhand and made their supreme sacrifice for the country,” said PM Modi while addressing the virtual rally in the state.

Hitting out at opposition, PM Modi said, “Uttarakhand is Dev Bhumi for us, but these people consider Uttarakhand as their vault. These people want to keep on looting the natural wealth and resources that God has given the state, they want it to fill their pockets. This is their mindset.”

Elaborating on the benefits of 'double-engine' growth, PM Modi stated, “Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line is a great example of how things changed under the Double Engine Sarkar, how the brakes on development have been lifted. The work on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line was to start a decade ago. But the previous ‘Brake Wali’ Sarkar continuously delayed the development work.”

“The work of Delhi-Dehradun Highway also started in the year 2000, when this state was formed. But the Congress government left it in hanging. An excuse was made for not getting clearance from the UP government, while they were in the Centre and their partner was ruling in UP,” he added while targeting the previous Congress government in the state.

PM Modi talked about the several central schemes which are benefiting the people of Uttarakhand. He said, “When we came to power, we started Namami Gange campaign for Maa Ganga. Today Maa Ganga is becoming pure. But do you know what they (Congress Government) did when they were in power? They declared Maa Ganga as a canal at Har ki Pauri in Haridwar.”

Amidst the ongoing election campaigning in Uttarakhand, PM Modi said, “The central government is developing waterways in the country. Ships are now running in Ganga. Haridwar and the entire Ganga belt will be benefited at large from this. Rs. 1,500 crores have been approved for Ring Road in Haridwar. Also, Rishikesh Railway Station has been modernized at a cost of hundreds of crores.”

“In this budget, the central government has announced 'Parvatmala Project' for states like Uttarakhand. With this a new era of development is going to start on the mountains,” the Prime Minister added.

Addressing the gathering virtually at Vijay Sankalp Sabha, PM Modi stated, “It has been 21 years since the establishment of Uttarakhand. The youth is now moving ahead with big dreams. With the state completing 25 years in next 3-4 years, your next government, under the leadership of Dhami ji, will take the state to new heights of development. Therefore, it is imperative that the next government is honest, hardworking, and youth-led.”
