Urging the people to show their support for a new era of India’s development by voting for the BJP in 2014 Elections, Shri Narendra Modi, addressing the ‘Bharat Vijay’ rallies at Gumla and Chatra in Jharkhand, on 27th March, said, “This Election is for the 16th Lok Sabha, in the year in 2014 and for 14 seats of Jharkhand. Lotus must shine on all 14 seats here.”

Appealing to the Maoists to drop their guns and stop spreading terror, Shri Modi urged them to instead pick up the plough and the pen, and work towards bringing development. Shri Modi recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s message of ‘Ahimsa’ and requested the youth, who had taken the Maoist route of terrorism and killings, to follow the path of peace and progress. “Mahatma Gandhi gave the message of non-violence. But youngsters inspired by Maoism have taken the gun and are spilling blood on streets. Our land needs the colour of progress not the colour of blood. Let these lands become green due to the work of farmers. Maoists must not have the gun in their hands, instead they must have agriculture tools and pens so that they can serve others. Raasta kalam, hal aur pasine ka hai, khoon ka nahi,” reinstated Shri Modi. He also spoke of how the peoples’ presence at both the rallies in large numbers had only proved that the power of democracy was always more than the power of threat and guns.

Shri Modi recalled Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s relentless efforts towards the formation of Jharkhand state, and emphasized on how this was made possible only under the BJP rule. He stated that had the Congress been in power throughout, Jharkhand would never have been formed. “So many Congress governments came but they never bothered about Jharkhand. But now that it’s formed see the politics they play. Do not forget that Pandit Nehru had mocked the idea of creation of Jharkhand. It was Atal ji who gave us Jharkhand,” said Shri Modi, while questioning the leaders, currently in Bihar, who had strongly opposed the formation of the state, as to where had they disappeared now.

Attacking the Congress for their lack of concern for the Adivasis, Shri Modi said that the Central government was not, till some time back, even aware of the existence of Adivasis. Though they had ruled for many years, they never bothered for the welfare of the Adivasis. “Congress did not bother for Adivasi communities. Till 2000, a new ministry was not made for development of tribal communities. If there is any party that can serve the Adivasi communities it is the BJP. We have made schemes for their development,” stated Shri Modi, while recalling how Shri Vajpayee ji had ensured the formation of a separate Ministry and budget for the development of Adivasis.

Shri Modi highlighted the tremendous potential of the land that was blessed with natural resources. He stated that though blessed with coal and iron ore reserves, the youth of Jharkhand had to go to other states in search of employment, and this was only due to the lack of ‘neeti and neeyat’ on the part of the State and Central government. Shri Modi added that the ruling government’s focus was on benefitting themselves through coal scams, rather than utilizing the resources for the development of its citizens. “Some leaders & parties think natural resources have immense opportunity for corruption. They did not even spare coal,” he said.

Highlighting the revolutionary reforms introduced in the mining sector in Gujarat, like a separate mining policy, satellite mapping of the work in mining, computerization and introduction of GPS in monitorinig the vehicles, etc, Shri Modi spoke of how this introduction of technology had risen the royalty received by manifold. This initiative – termed as MAGIC (Mineral Administration and Governance using ICT – was also awarded at the national level for its momentous contribution in reducing corruption and bringing efficiency. Shri Modi also spoke of how the basic initiative of providing adequate water to the farmers could also be a revolutionary step in the betterment of the farming community. Putting forth Gujarat’s success story in agriculture through ensuring adequate water to the farmers by employing drip irrigation and other reforms, Shri Modi emphasized on how such an approach would work wonders for Jharkhand too.

Attacking the rampant corruption levels in the Central government, which had given rise to innumerable scams, Shri Modi said, “We heard all kinds of taxes but there was a Jayanti Tax in Delhi- it was a tax for environment clearances. From experience I can say that we can make our nation corruption free. Only promises won’t help...Irade Nek Hone Chahiye.”

Speaking on the Congress manifesto, declared yesterday, Shri Modi spoke of how any manifesto for any party must be revered, but the Congress had instead removed its sanctity. He attacked the Congress’ repetition of promises in the 2004, 2009 and 2014 elections, be it about reducing inflation or tackling unemployment and requested the Election Commission that similar to the affidavit which is a must for every candidate to fulfill, a written commitment of the fulfilment of their manifesto by each ruling party must also be sought. “I appeal to EC- you take affidavits from candidates. Make rules - how many promises by Govts in manifestos were fulfilled,” said Shri Modi.

Terming Gumla as ‘veeron ki, balidaniyon ki, aur samaj sevakon ki bhoomi’, Shri Modi recalled the land’s contribution in the 1857 freedom struggle and the India-Pakistan war battle. “This is a land of the brave. This is a land of people who have devoted themselves for others be it 1857 or any other era,” said Shri Modi. He also recollected the heroic stories of Baba Tilka, Vishwanath Sahdeo, Nilambar and Pitambar and Paramvir Albert Ekka, and spoke of how Birsa Munda was revered for his momentous contribution.

Speaking on the occasion, former Jharkhand CM Shri Arjun Munda welcomed Shri Modi and attributed him as the future Prime Minister of India. He also spoke of the misgovernance under the ruling government in Jharkhand, by saying, “This is a government not for the people of Jharkhand but to loot the people of the state.”

Shri Arjun Munda, Shri Raghuvardas, Shri Sumit Sudarshan Bhagat, Shri Kamlesh Rao, Shri Vijay Mishra and Smt. Vimla Pradhan were present on the occasion.
