On the afternoon of 14th April, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Bharat Vijay’ rally at Lakhimpur Kheri and Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. In his speech, Shri Modi attacked the Congress for their miserable failure in ensuring even the basic amenities for the people, and urged the people to support the BJP for better governance. Shri Modi also recalled Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s contribution in ensuring social harmony and stated how the Congress had only insulted Dr. Ambedkar, even as it failed to address the concerns of the Dalits and the oppressed.

Speaking on Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Shri Modi recalled his momentous contribution towards framing the Constitution and bringing social harmony, and condemned the Congress’ approach of taking undue credit for many policies and initiatives, which were, in fact, framed by Dr. Ambedkar. Stating how the Freedom of Speech was instituted as a Fundamental right in the Constitution by Dr. Ambedkar, Shri Modi said, Babasaheb Ambedkar gave us so much but due to your family politics you never let what he envisioned become a reality. Dr. Ambedkar gave freedom of speech but who took away the freedom of speech of our own PM. Sonia ji, people want to know,” said Shri Modi.

Shri Modi also spoke of how the Congress had insulted Dr. Ambedkar on various occasions, and stated that despite being in power the Congress never honoured Dr. Ambedkar, even for years after his death. He stated that it was only under the BJP that due recognition was given to Dr. Ambedkar by bestowing him with the Bharat Ratna. Such callous attitude of the Congress was also reflected in their misdoings for the Dalits, who had only witnessed dejection and discrimination, said Shri Modi. He applauded the Constitution which had enabled a tea-seller like him to emerge as the country’s Prime Ministerial candidate.

The Congress’ failure in providing employment to youth, and ensuring basic facilities like potable water, electricity and sanitation, was also spoken of by Shri Modi, who attacked the Congress for its lack of concern for the people, and stated that their only concern was to benefit ‘SABKA’ – SP, BSP and Congress. Other corrupt practices of the Central government like the coal scam or its false and misleading claims were also exposed by Shri Modi. He further asserted how the youth living in states bordering other countries was getting ruined by the illegal trading of narcotics and fake currency, even as the Centre kept its mum on such misdoings. Speaking on the condition of farmers, Shri Modi took a dig at Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav, and stated how Ministers in the State government were only concerned with setting up elephant parks or lion safaris rather than focusing on empowering their farmers.

Shri Modi urged the people to understand the tactics of the Congress who practiced votebank politics, and appealed to them to wipe them out in the 2014 Elections. He gave the clarion call to make the BJP win by sending more than 300 Lotuses to the Centre, and bring a strong and stable government in Delhi. Shri Modi assured them that as a ‘sevak’, he would serve the Nation selflessly and undo all the misdoings of the Congress in a span of merely 60 months.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi earlier today chaired the meeting of the 45th edition of PRAGATI, the ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments.

In the meeting, eight significant projects were reviewed, which included six Metro Projects of Urban Transport and one project each relating to Road connectivity and Thermal power. The combined cost of these projects, spread across different States/UTs, is more than Rs. 1 lakh crore.

Prime Minister stressed that all government officials, both at the Central and State levels, must recognize that project delays not only escalate costs but also hinder the public from receiving the intended benefits.

During the interaction, Prime Minister also reviewed Public Grievances related to the Banking & Insurance Sector. While Prime Minister noted the reduction in the time taken for disposal, he also emphasized on the quality of disposal of the grievances.

Considering more and more cities are coming up with Metro Projects as one of the preferred public transport systems, Prime Minister advised conducting workshops for experience sharing for cities where projects are under implementation or in the pipeline, to capture the best practices and learnings from experiences.

During the review, Prime Minister stressed on the importance of timely Rehabilitation and Resettlement of Project Affected Families during implementation of projects. He further asked to ensure ease of living for such families by providing quality amenities at the new place.

PM also reviewed PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He directed to enhance the capacity of installations of Rooftops in the States/UTs by developing a quality vendor ecosystem. He further directed to reduce the time required in the process, starting from demand generation to operationalization of rooftop solar. He further directed states to adopt a saturation approach for villages, towns and cities in a phased manner.

Up to the 45th edition of PRAGATI meetings, 363 projects having a total cost of around Rs. 19.12 lakh crore have been reviewed.
