On the afternoon of 8th April, Shri Narendra Modi addressed rallies at Koppal, Bagalkot, Mysore and Bengaluru in Karnataka and appealed to the people to take the step ahead in making India Congress-free. The Central government’s lack of concern for its people and the Karnataka State Government’s lack of vision for State’s development was shared by Shri Modi, who assured the people of a strong, stable and development-oriented government under the BJP.

Giving an account of the Congress’ dubious promises and false claims, Shri Modi spoke of how the repetitive yet unfulfilled promises mentioned in the Party’s Manifesto, over the years, has been misleading the Nation. From an assurance of giving jobs to the youth to ensuring high growth and low inflation, Shri Modi highlighted how the Congress had miserably failed in fulfilling any of these. He stated how the reverse of this – high inflation and low growth – had sunk the Nation into distress. Condemning the Central government’s fake promises of ensuring growth and empowerment through its misleading campaign of ‘Har Haath Shakti, Har Haath Tarakki’, Shri Modi said, “The Nation has understood the true nature of the Congress- Har Haath Loot, Aur Har Honth Jhooth.”

Shri Modi expressed shock at the Congress’ unconcern towards focusing on the aspects of skill development, employment generation, poverty alleviation, corruption-riddance and empowerment of farmers and women, even as he stated how the Congress was only concerned with looting the Nation and filling their own pockets. He spoke of how even though the NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), initiated by the Congress, focused on providing employment to the rural population, only few were given work and that too for some days. Shri Modi questioned the Congress President as to where were the funds meant for NREGA diverted to, and stated that this was yet another attempt by the Congress to sweep off the Nation’s assets.

He spoke of how Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri ji’s mantra of ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ was destroyed by the Congress’ new mantra of ‘Mar Jawan, Mar Kisan’, since neither the farmer nor the soldier was safe under the Congress rule. Highlighting the sorry-state-of-affairs for the farmer, Shri Modi spoke of how not only were they not given the due for their produce, but also their crop was made to rot and then given to liquor manufacturers. This, Shri Modi said, was in direct opposition to the Supreme Court’s order of giving the grains to the poor.

The Congress’ long-standing corrupt practices were revealed by Shri Modi when he recalled Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s statement of how the rupee released by the Centre (the Congress government then) reached the end-user (the poor) as a mere 15 paise. He questioned the Congress family as to which was the ‘Hand’ that bungled up the money and left the needy devoid of it. He also retaliated to the Congress Vice President’s statement of needing crores of Indians as ‘chowkidaars’ and questioned if the list of ‘chowkidaars’ would also include corrupted and tainted ministers of the Congress like Shri Ashok Chavan. “Corruption and loot seems to be in the DNA of the Congress. Generations may change, the leader will change but the Congress’ Niyat remains unchanged,” said Shri Modi.

Giving the clarion call of uprooting the Congress, Shri Modi exposed their blatant lies and, from the land of IT professionals in Bengaluru, spoke of how the Centre had done the least for IT development in the country. Highlighting the lack of initiatives for IT growth, Shri Modi spoke of how the software exports of India, which was a substantial 40 per cent under the NDA government, fell to a mere 9 per cent under the UPA’s governance in the past decade. He spoke of the ‘Shahzaada’s’ false claims of having brought the IT revolution under the Congress rule, and reminded him of the IT Act which was framed for the development of this sector under Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s government in 2002. The Centre’s lack of foresightedness in cashing in on the software expertise of the youth and thereby delivering electronic goods to the world, was also shared by Shri Modi, who stated how this had led to a massive increase in India’s imports of electronic goods, and thereby brought about severe current account deficits.

Referring to the CWG scam, Shri Modi spoke of the global shame the Congress had brought to the Nation by indulging in it, and the black spot India had earned by figuring in the list of corrupt nations. He also spoke of the miserable failure of the Aadhar card, and questioned the Congress on what had prompted it to select a candidate worth crores, whose so-called pioneering initiative had proved to be futile. Shri Modi also stated how his concerns for the Nation’s security and the empowerment of its people were never paid heed to by the Central government.

Shri Modi spoke of how the Congress shoved away every question put to them, by asking for an RTI. From the scams they indulged in to their hidden black money, the Congress has always been unaccountable of their actions, said Shri Modi.

The State government’s lack of vision in tapping the potential of the pink granite industry in Karnataka was also addressed by Shri Modi who said that if given due emphasis, this industry had the potential to better the lives of the poor. He also spoke of the vast potential of the tourism sector and how it could be a prime source of employment for the youth and livelihood for the poor. He stated how the BJP’s Manifesto gave due importance towards the development of this sector by the setting up of required infrastructure.

Shri Modi urged the people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s call of disintegrating the Congress after the freedom struggle, and urged them to support the BJP so as to end the misrule of the Congress. Assuring the people of a developed nation under the BJP, Shri Modi stated how his sole focus was to fulfill the dreams of the youth. “Your ambition is my Mission,” affirmed Shri Modi. He appealed them to send atleast 300 Lotuses to the Centre, and give him a chance to serve the country as a ‘sevak’ and a ‘chowkidaar’.
