CM exhorts teachers to alter people's impression of government schools
Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi today while giving appointment letters to 13,000 newly-appointed vidhya sahayak (teaching assistants) exhorts them to alter people's impression about government schools and to show the society that government school's have the ability to provide high quality education as well to build the life of its students.
The teaching assistants were recently recruited through a transparent online process which was completed in a span of just twelve days. Last year also the state government had recruited about ten thousand teaching assistants in math, science and language subjects.
Teaching assistants who got the appointment letters today in the function which was jointly organized by Education department, Ahmedabad District Panchayat, Primary Education Committee and Ahmedabad city Primary Education Committee includes 6500 personnel for math and science subjects while 6500 for the language subjects. Entire programme was live-telecasted through GSWAN technology.
Chief Minister said that state government has made the recruitments through a transparent process based on the merit. Besides, the government has given the teachers a choice to select their schools. “It is not just an appointment letter that the government is giving to these teachers, the government is entrusting them a responsibility of the future of Gujarat”, said Chief Minister.
Talking about the role of teachers Mr. Modi said the development of the state is not just based on infrastructural facilities but also on the quality of its education. A teacher not only gives knowledge but build lives. Foundation of a strong nation can be successfully prepared by resolute and hard working teachers, he said
Ahmedabad Mayor Mr. Asit Vora, MPs Mr.Kirit Solanki, MLAs and office bearers of the municipal corporation were present on the occasion.
