CM will visit Bhavnagar and Surat today

Chief Minister Narendra Modi will today open a cable-stayed bridge connecting Bhavnagar to Bhal region. Shri Narendra Modi will also review the drought relief measures in Bhavnagar. After Bhavnagar, on the same day Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate a public private partnership project of high tech amusement park in Surat constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore. Shri Narendra Modi is also set to lay a foundation stone laying ceremonies of 11 bridges in Surat, three sewerage treatment plants, and inaugurate a few SMC projects.

The new bridge has been erected on Bhavnagar creek replacing ‘Lakkadiapul’, which was swept away by heavy rain in 2007. The bridge reduces distance between Bhavnagar and proposed Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) as well as Ahmedabad. The 135-m-long four-lane bridge near old Bhavnagar port gives second entry point to the city from Ahmedabad. The bridge that has reduced distance to Bhavnagar by 30 km is expected to change economic dimension of around 30 villages of Bhal area, considered to be backward. The load of traffic from and toward Chitra industrial zone road will be reduced once the bridge construction is complete.

‘Lakkadiapul’, near old Bhavnagar port collapsed in 2007 due to heavy rain. The bridge was then used just by pedestrians or cyclists and was the only connecting link between Bhavnagar and Bhal. Hence, it is very important for hundreds of daily wagers from Bhal region who come to Bhavnagar for work.

A new cable stayed bridge has been constructed by state government’s public works department through economic aid of Gujarat Maritime Board(GMB) at a cost of Rs 27.90 crore. It is 180 meter long and 11 meter wide with three lanes. On both sides two meter wide footpath has been provided.

Earlier the villagers of Bhal area villages like Kala talav, Narmad, Kheta,Khatli had to first come to Nirmachokdi first through vehicle, and from there were reaching Bhavnagar for employment. But with a new bridge in place, the distance of 35 km has been reduced to zero. The bridge connects old and new ports of Bhavnagar to Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara and other cities with 8 km lesser distance compare to traditional route.

After Bhavnagar in Surat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the same day, is set to perform a foundation stone laying ceremonies of 11 bridges, planned to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.393 crore.  The longest among all will be the one connecting Chowk Bazaar with Adajan, to be constructed at a cost of Rs70 crore. Apart from these Shri Modi will inaugrate a few SMC projects, running into more than Rs100 crore.

Shri Narendra Modi is also set lay the foundation stones of three sewerage treatment plants, with an estimated cost of Rs335 crore

The significant of all, Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay foundation stone of Rs 200 crore public private partnership project of high tech amusement park in Surat.

The project is designed by Australian multinational company Sanderson group. Same company has designed 22 theme parks across the world including Sentosa Island’s Universal studio, Tokyo’s Disney land, USA’s Universal studio and Australia’s Warner Brothers movie world theme park.

The 15-acre theme park will be opened for public in April 2014.The theme park will have five divisions; Filmistan (a theme park), Toonpur(for kids), YuvaNagri (for teens). It will also have a water park, snow park(a hill), bird park(jungle), food an entertainment street(Surtigali). It will have 7D theater, 100-room four star hotel. Five star club with bowling alley, pool table, swimming pool, health spa, cricket line, badminton etc.Surat Municipal Corporation has planned this park in Magob-Dumbhal area.

November 24, 2024
PM to launch UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025
Theme of the conference, "Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All," aligns with the Indian Government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate ICA Global Cooperative Conference 2024 and launch the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025 on 25th November at around 3 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

ICA Global Cooperative Conference and ICA General Assembly is being organised in India for the first time in the 130 year long history of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), the premier body for the Global Cooperative movement. The Global Conference, hosted by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), in collaboration with ICA and Government of India, and Indian Cooperatives AMUL and KRIBHCO will be held from 25th to 30th November.

The theme of the conference, "Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All," aligns with the Indian Government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). The event will feature discussions, panel sessions, and workshops, addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by cooperatives worldwide in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas such as poverty alleviation, gender equality, and sustainable economic growth.

Prime Minister will launch the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025, which will focus on the theme, “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” underscoring the transformative role cooperatives play in promoting social inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. The UN SDGs recognize cooperatives as crucial drivers of sustainable development, particularly in reducing inequality, promoting decent work, and alleviating poverty. The year 2025 will be a global initiative aimed at showcasing the power of cooperative enterprises in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.

Prime Minister will also launch a commemorative postal stamp, symbolising India’s commitment to the cooperative movement. The stamp showcases a lotus, symbolising peace, strength, resilience, and growth, reflecting the cooperative values of sustainability and community development. The five petals of the lotus represent the five elements of nature (Panchatatva), highlighting cooperatives' commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability. The design also incorporates sectors like agriculture, dairy, fisheries, consumer cooperatives, and housing, with a drone symbolising the role of modern technology in agriculture.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bhutan His Excellency Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji His Excellency Manoa Kamikamica and around 3,000 delegates from over 100 countries will also be present.
