Shri Naval Kishore Sharma served as Governor of Gujarat from 2004 to 2009.

 

On the morning of Thursday 9th October 2012 Shri Narendra Modi condoled the unfortunate demise of former Gujarat Governor Shri Naval Kishore Sharma.

Shri Modi wrote on Twitter, Shri Naval Kishore Sharma added immense stature to the constitutional offices he held. I had great regard for him. May his soul rest in peace.”

 

Shri Naval Kishore Sharma served as the Governor of Gujarat from 2004 till 2009. In the past he served the people of his home state Rajasthan in various capacities, including as Speaker of the Assembly from 1998-2003. He served in Parliament and as Union Minister in the mid-1980s.

When Shri Modi led the BJP to a thumping victory in the 2007 Vidhan Sabha Elections, it was Shri Naval Kishore Sharma who administered the oath of office to Shri Modi.

In October 2011 when Shri Modi visited Rajasthan, he called on Shri Sharma and enquired about his health.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said that he is eagerly awaiting his visit to Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir for the Z-morh tunnel inauguration.

Responding to the X post of Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah regarding preparedness of above mentioned tunnel, Shri Modi wrote;

“I am eagerly awaiting my visit to Sonmarg, Jammu and Kashmir for the tunnel inauguration. You rightly point out the benefits for tourism and the local economy.
