Deepa Malik, along with other sportspersons were special invitees at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Independence Day. When PM Modi came to interact with them, there was much excitement among the athletes to greet him that they almost went over Deepa Malik, who was on her wheelchair. Seeing this, the PM urged others not to take support of her as she had multiple spinal cord surgeries.
Narrating this instance, Deepa Malik said that she was touched and felt happy by PM Modi’s concern for her. She recalled how PM Modi stopped other athletes when they tried to approach him by going over her and himself placed a hand behind her head to protect her from people falling.
Deepa said, “People tried to reach out to him over me. Then quickly, Modi Ji put his hand behind my head and protected me from people falling on me. He told them that I had multiple surgeries in my back and asked them not to hurt me. I was very happy that the Prime Minister remembered about my spinal cord injuries and protected me.”
I’ve had the privilege of interacting with Hon. PM @narendramodi ji many a times. One interaction that I will never forget was when Modiji himself wheeled my wheelchair to the stage! Watch this story and more more here: https://t.co/GildVTP7Oy@PMOIndia @BJP4India
