ACCII delegation meets Chief Minister, discusses setting up of projects in Gujarat
GOG and ACCII will jointly create a plan for the investment and setting up of projects by the American companies in Gujarat
A 33-member high-level delegation of American Chamber of Commerce and Industries of India (ACCII) held a meet with Chief Minister Narendra Modi today. The delegation was led by the President of American Chamber Mr. Atul Singh.The meet discussed the possibilities of the investment and setting up of projects by the American companies in Gujarat. The state government and ACCII will jointly create a work plan in this regard.
During the meet Chief Minister expressed desire to make India self-dependent in the manufacturing of defense equipment. He gave outlines of the state government’s initiatives in setting up of maritime security equipment projects in view of the state’s 1,600 km. long coastline. Impressed with Mr. Modi’s farsighted approach, the ACCII members expressed keenness in providing technical expertise to Gujarat for the manufacturing of defense equipments. In this regard, the meet also decided to organize a special seminar that will cover all the aspects of the manufacturing of defense security equipments.
Talking about the state government’s stand on organized retail, Chief Minister said that ‘Amul pattern’ has been successful in organized retail. Gujarat will adhere to ‘Amul pattern’ avoiding the ‘Walmart pattern’. The state government will stick to the policies that care for the broader good of farmers, buyer and the traders.
Chief Minister also mentioned about the state’s solar power consumption incentive policy and agro-green house power policy which are in preparation phase. He said the solar energy policy is not meant only for power generation, it is also essential for saving the world from the problem of global warming. Gujarat has initiated in promoting renewable energy sources and in bringing qualitative changes in the life style of the people.
Mentioning that the land acquisition has become a controversial issue across India Chief Minister said that Gujarat makes sure that land acquisition does not create conflicts. The state government involves the farmers in the development process. Even the Supreme Court has lauded the state’s land acquisition policy.
Mr. Modi also gave details of the state government’s initiatives for reducing infant mortality rate and providing nutritious food to mother and children. He also talked about the state’s policy on infrastructure development, agro-food processing, cold supply chain network, value-added organized retail, education, ‘rurban’ project, rain water harvesting and water treatment management.
Chief Secretary A K Joti along with other secretaries to Gujarat government was also present during the meet.
