Addressing the silver jubilee celebrations of Akshardham Temple at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the role played by Pramukh Swami ji and BAPS family. The PM said, “Pramukh Swami Ji was never guided by 'expanding influence' for the sake of it. He was more interested in improving lives of people.”

 

Shri Modi added that Pramukh Swami Ji brought about transformative change in society. “What was special about Pramukh Swami Ji was that he understood the importance of changing with times & yet retaining a human touch”, the PM remarked.

 

Shri Modi remarked that Akshardham Temples were about 'Bhavyata' and 'Divyata'. He further stated, “Akshardham Temples stand out for excellent management and usage of technology. For this, we will always be grateful to Pramukh Swami ji.”

The PM recalled, “Pramukh Swami Ji taught us to lead a life not for ourselves but for others. He appreciated the work done by BAPS during the Navnirman Movement in restoring normalcy and helping people. “Swaminarayan Family is always ready to serve humanity, whatever is needed, at whatever time and at any place”, Shri Modi added.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
