Bhilad RTO check post earns triple revenue than its counterpart in Maharashtra during past eight months :

Bhilad check post continues to make highest income in comparison to 13 other inter-state check posts :

It is a result of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi's financial discipline that has made the Bhilad Regional Transport check post bordering Gujarat- Maharashtra on National Highway No. 8, to make an income of Rs. 54 crore 18 lakh 83 thousand 499 during the first eight months of fiscal year 2008-2009. On the other hand, the income made by the Maharashtra RTO check post located on the same Highway has been of Rs.16 crore 17 lakh 67 thousand 238, accounts for less than Rs. 35 crores made by the Bhilad check post during the corresponding period.

Interestingly, nearly 12,000 vehicles enter Maharashtra after passing through the Bhilad check post on a daily basis. A similar number of vehicles enter Gujarat through Achhad check post, located hardly one and a half kilometers from Bhilad.

Bhilad Regional Transport check post has once again created a history of sorts by making an income of Rs. 54, 18 83, 499, considered to be the highest among all the 13 check posts located at 13 different inter-state borders in Gujarat form April 2008 to November 2008.

Immediately after taking over the reins of Gujarat, the Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, brought about financial discipline among the staff manning such check posts and also stepped up vigilance and brought about leakages to a standstill, which is being held responsible for the check post making such a huge revenue income each year.

Since Shri Modi took over in 2001-2002, the Bhilad check post has earned an income of Rs 5.23 billion which is considered to be Rs 3.70 billion more than the Maharastra-based Achhad check post.

Interestingly Achhad check post has registered as many as 323 cases for the breach of Motor Vehicle Act during the past eight months where as the Bhilad officials registered almost equal number of cases on a daily basis
