The menace of price rise will uproot the Congress: Shri Modi

On Wednesday 12th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi addressed a  public meetings in Kheda (Kheda district). He spoke about the development initiatives in Gujarat over the last decade and pointed out that the Congress neither has people nor issues in this election. The Chief Minister paid rich tributes to Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. He stated, “I pay my tributes to Pandit Ravi Shankar, who devoted his entire life to music. His body is not with us but his music is immortal.”

Shri Modi avowed that the using their money power, the Congress may be all over the newspapers and television but they will not be able to enter the hearts of the people of Gujarat. Noted Indian cricketer Mr. Irfan Pathan was present during the public meeting.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the other name of the Congress is cheating. He recalled that it’s been 40 years since the Congress promised ‘Garibi Hatao’ but have they adhered to their promise? Similarly, the Congress promised to bring prices down in 2009 within 100 days of getting elected but prices have increased since then. The Chief Minister shared that not only did prices increase but also the Congress took away gas cylinders, which has caused immense hardship to the poor and middle class families, who are now at the mercy of the black market.

Shri Modi questioned what happened to the Congress promise of 1 crore jobs and further asked if any youngster got a job from Delhi. On the other hand, he shared the Gujarat Government’s initiative whereby if a youngster wants a loan to start something new, the Government will be the guarantor.

He stated that if someone promises something and fails to deliver on it, the person has a duty to come to the people and state the reason of being unable to fulfill the promise but when Mrs. Sonia Gandhi came to Gujarat she did not say a word on rising prices, thus showing the arrogance of the Congress party.

Pointing to the anti-Gujarat attitude of the Congress, Shri Modi shared that Gujarat has a strong co-operative sector in milk production and even Congress leaders in Delhi consume milk from Gujarat. Yet, they have placed 30% tax on milk due to which prices of milk have increased. Likewise, due to rising diesel prices the cost of vegetables has also increased. “How will the poor eat?” the Chief Minister asked and added, “The menace of price rise will uproot the Congress.”

Shri Modi expressed confidence of a BJP victory in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections. Commenting on Mr. Rahul Gandhi’s campaign in UP he said, “Rahul Baba stayed in UP for months. He went to homes of poor, lifted children, the photo session went on for 12 months. But, the number of photos takes was more than the number of votes he got! People know such leaders well.”

He categorically affirmed that the Congress neither has people nor issues in these elections. He avowed, “Remember the previous elections, that time the entire family album would be there in campaign posters. It was on for years. This time Congress is fighting the election where not a single picture of a Congress leader is there. Their trust in their leaders is gone.” Shri Modi further spoke, “Congress has to use models to spread their lies. By doing this you cannot win elections. In the 125-year old history of the Congress such bankruptcy would not have been seen as we are seeing in Gujarat. By seeing a model can we put Gujarat’s future at risk?” He came down heavily on the Congress for blotting democracy in this manner saying, “You have cricketers, actors (as your MPs) you could have put their pictures but you have no leader to show the people? What are these blots on your face that you cannot show to the people?” The Chief Minister made it clear that the questions he is raising are not restricted to elections only but about democracy at large.

He made a strong appeal to the people to come out and vote in large numbers and make the BJP win.
