PMO initiates special cleanliness drive ahead of the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission

The Prime Minister`s Office initiated a special cleanliness drive in the PMO premises today. On this occasion, all the officials and staff were given the responsibility to clean the identified places within the premises.

2-684The staff participated in the cleanliness exercise with enthusiasm and helped in cleaning the corridors, floors, basement, parking area, lawn etc. of the office building. Principal Secretary, Shri Nripendra Misra motivated the staff during the cleanliness drive.

During the cleanliness drive, old furniture, newspapers etc. were removed from the premises for disposal. Disinfectants were also sprayed during the exercise. The corridor walls were given a new look with painting and photo frames. Various competitions including essay, debate, painting competition etc. were also organized.

PMO is observing cleanliness week from September 25th to October 2nd, 2014. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, will launch the Swachh Bharat Mission on October 2nd, 2014.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
