The meet also saw Shri Amit Shah's ratification as the BJP's new National President. On the occasion, PM Shri Narendra Modi said, "To win LS polls was a team effort, Rajnath ji was the captain of the team & Shri Amit Shah was the man of the match. BJP would not have won in Uttar Pradesh without Shri Amit Shah in the team.” The PM was confident that Shri Amit Shah will carry out the responsibilities given to him by the party."

Shri Modi highlighted the role all the BJP karyakartas played for wining th Lok Sabha polls.

Recalling his whole journey, starting from the poll campaign to assuming office as the PM of India, Shri Modi said, "These elections were tough for political pundits. It started from - who knows Modi outside Gujarat. People were in a mood to support us. People have done their work, time for us to do ours".

On the very same note, he further added, "To accept fast changing perception was difficult but I had said earlier that the nation has begun to move forward".

"Since the day we came to power, a lot of our time has gone in cleaning up, in changing work culture. Our confidence has increased after seeing positive 60 days in office. It is a fact that a majority Govt gives us an opportunity to be decisive. Today, the way the world looks at India has changed. I am sure people at large would have experienced it too", Shri Modi said expressing his happiness on assuming office.

Shri Modi highlighted that this election victory has increased the party’s work. He highlighted that there needs to be a vertical and horizontal growth in the party. In a nation so big we can't do with only 1 PM. We need 100-200 PMs in every polling booth. By PM, he meant primary members. It would be helpful if every year the party should dedicate itself towards one social issue. For instance, declare next year as energy saving year. “Not only can we serve our nation in this manner but also help spread awareness" he said.

It is time Bharatiya Janta Party creates a new identity. This agenda is above politics and I hope the party president will consider my suggestions.

On India’s WTO stance, he asserted, “Those who asked for votes in name of food security deviated from their agenda. We chose to serve the poor. And the WTO agreement deviates from this purpose. I am ready to accept the challenge; but will not bow to pressured.”

PM Shri Modi clarified that the small incidents of violence taking place at different corners of the nation will not be accepted at all. There has to be communal harmony, peace, unity and brotherhood in the nation. “We have to take the nation forward and it will take the people of the nation forward as well.”

As a concluding message to the nation, PM Modi highlighted, “We believe in Antyodaya. To support the very last person in the queue is our Mantra, be it in power or opposition. We should continue to work with people to ensure their happiness. It cannot be our habit to bend to every breeze. We are not buds to bend; we are a tree that gives shade. 'Sabka saath, sabka vikaas' is the key to a participatory democracy.”

Other senior party leaders like Shri L K Advani, Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Satish Upadhyay were also present at the meet.
