Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the achievements of Indian athletes at the ISSF Junior World Cup held in Sydney, Australia. In a series of tweets, PM Modi appreciated the young shooters and said that their laurels made every Indian proud. 

Congratulating Arjun Babuta, who won a bronze in the 10m air rifle men's junior final, the PM said, “My young friend Arjun Babuta has made India proud by winning the bronze in the 10m air rifle men's junior final. Hailing from Chandigarh, Arjun has distinguished himself as an ace shooter in various tournaments.”

Shri Modi appreciated Elavenil Valarivan, who won Gold in the 10m air rifle women's junior event and even posted some pictures from her welcome in Gujarat.

Appreciating Vivaan Kapoor, the PM wrote, “India rejoiced when the talented Vivaan Kapoor won a bronze in the finals of the Trap Men's Junior event. Wishing Vivaan the very best for his future endeavours.”

Shri Modi lauded Manu Bhaker and said, “Nobody can forget the spectacular performance of Manu Bhaker, the youngest of the medal winners at the ISSF World Cup.” The PM said she was India’s one of the most promising athletes.

The PM congratulated Gaurav Rana and Anmol for winning silver and bronze respectively in 10m air pistol men’s junior event. He also appreciated Anish for winning Gold in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men's Junior event.

Lauding the talented Muskan for clinching Gold in the 25m pistol women's junior final, the PM said, “Muskan has indeed brought smiles on the faces of 125 crore Indians with her excellent performance. We hope she continues to pursue sports and excel in the times to come.”

He also appreciated Ganemat Sekhon for winning Bronze in the skeet women's junior event.

PM Modi hoped that stupendous performance of the shooters would strengthen the ‘Fit India’ movement and motivate many more youngsters to play and excel.

PM Modi visits the Indian Arrival Monument

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
