Hon'ble CM dedicates 'Kranti Teerth' as a memorial to Shyamji Krishna Verma

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the majestic Shyamji Krishna Verma Memorial, named after the revolutionary as 'Kranti Teerth', at his birthplace at Mandvi-Kutch.

Speaking on the occasion, he wished the memorial to Krantiguru Krishna Verma fulfill his dream of India becoming Vishwa Guru, or Global Guru. The people of Gujarat feel proud of its illustrious son and pay their obeisance to him. This Kranti Teerth is projected to be pay indebt-ness to revolutionaries who lived up to the slogans of 'Vande Mataram' and 'Sujalam Sufalam'.

Mr. Modi asked the people to take inspiration from the life of the Krantiguru, his journey from the seacoast of Mandvi to the India House. He expressed happiness that a museum of India's revolutionaries has been set up in the westernmost coast of India. The replica of India House will reverberate with patriotic songs and preserve the country's rich heritage.

He was born in the year of India's first freedom struggle in 1857 and died in 1930. Mr. Modi brought his ashes from Geneva in 2003 and decided in 2009 to build a memorial befitting the krantiguru. The memorial built at a cost of Rs.6-crore is ready in 14 months. It chronicles important events of India's freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947 through posters and pictures. Shyamji fought the foreign rule sitting in England, converting India House as a centre of revolutionary activities

The Chief Minister also honoured the family members of freedom fighters, like Lokmanya Tilak, Veer Savarkar and Madam Cama, on the occasion. He planted a sapling as a token of 22,000-tree 'Kranti Van' being grown there. He launched a website www.krantiteerth.org

Earlier, Kuchchis living in Mumbai arrived in a 200-car rally at the site and offered water brought from their respective places into the lake.

Rural Development Minister Narottam Patel, who is also guardian minister for Kutch, said that Shyamji Krishna Verma's last wish does not end with the memorial, but the next generation taking inspiration from the lives of revolutionaries..

Veteran journalist and researcher Vishnu Pandya, describing the life and times of Krishna Verma, thanked the Chief Minister for opening the pages of India's freedom struggle from the soil of Gujarat before the world to notice.

Prominent among those present there included Member of Parliament Poonmben Jan, MLAs, Additional Chief Secretary V.N. Maira and GMDC Managing Director V.S. Gadhvi, among others.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid homage today to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in the historic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana. He recalled Bapu’s eternal values of peace and non-violence which continue to guide humanity. The statue was installed in commemoration of Gandhiji’s 100th birth anniversary in 1969.

Prime Minister also paid floral tribute at the Arya Samaj monument located close by. This monument was unveiled in 2011 in commemoration of 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.
