Ahmedabad, Thursday: GujaratChiefMinister Narendra Modisaidtoday that dharma has been the soul of Indiansociety and it does not belong to anycommunity as it wouldenthroneIndia as theglobal guru throughservice and devotion.Speaking at the silverjubileefunctionof Maa Umiya Mata at Sidsar organized by Kadva Patidar Samaj in the Saurashtra region, hesaidthat he was fortunate enoughtohave the blessing of all the three Mother Goddesses Ambaji, Bahuchar and Umiya Matabyvirtueofwhich he couldservethe people. He paid his obeisance to the goddess andinaugurated anexhibitionof stalls and programmes.
“Had it not been for Indialosing directionpost-Independence,” Mr. Modi said, “this great nationwould have been seated as the globalguru and prospered as ‘
sujalam sufalam’ long back. We have lost anopportunity but thepotential remains.”
TheChiefMinisterexhorted thecommunityleaderstofreethesocietyfromevils like feticide, gender discrimination. He also remembered the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel inleadingthenationduring acrucialperiod. Hesaidthat Patidar Samaj has produced manyillustrioussons like Chhagan Bapa and Odhavjibhaitoaddtoenlightenmentof thecommunity. He felicitated community leaders.
