80-member delegation from Pune meets Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi
Pune builders and construction professionals keen to take part in Gujarat’s urban development mission
A high-level delegation of 80 builders, construction professionals and members of Pune Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra, led by Ms. Prachi Javdekar, today called on Chief Minister Narendra Modi and complimented him for adopting a successful strategy of planning and development of cities in Gujarat.
The Pune delegation is on a four-day tour of the major projects in big cities of the state. They were impressed by the development in Gujarat and expressed desire to take part in Gujarat’s urban development vision.
Mr. Modi briefed them about the finer points of the state’s urban development policy, transparency and good governance to implement Rs.7,000-crore urban projects to provide civic amenities. It was a decade of qualitative improvement, tourism and urban development with people’s participation. Kutch was a case of post-quake reconstruction.
He gave details of the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and said Rs.100,000-crore Kalpsar Project would be the world’s largest artificial fresh water lake to solve water shortage for 100 years. He listed Sabarmati Riverfront Development, Kankaria Lakefront, BRTS Jan Marg, GIFT City, Kids City, Mahatma Mandir and futuristic Metro Rail as other major projects.
They discussed Gujarat’s initiatives in projects for economic empowerment, health, housing and employment of the urban poor.
Gujarat’s Principal Urban Development Secretary I.P. Gautam and GUDC Managing Director Mr. Hyder were also present during the meeting.
