An US trade delegation (USA trade mission) led by former US envoy to India Mr. Robert Blackwill paid courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today and had fruitful discussion on expanding the scope of American companies’ economic-industrial partnership and investment in Gujarat.
Mr. Robert Blackwill, who served asUSA’s envoy toIndiaduring 2001 to 2003, has been a strong advocate of strengtheningAmerica’s relations withIndia. As an expert onUSeconomy and foreign policy he also enjoys a high regard as a senior fellow ofUSA’s Council on Foreign Relations. Prior to the delegation’s visit, Mr. Robert Blackwill had 45-minute one-to-one discussion with Mr. Modi on various subjects including current national and international matters.
Mr. Robert Blackwill was accompanied by senior director of international development and government affairs of American company Mr. Daryl Bouwkamp and infrastructure consultant Mr. Rajendra Sinha. A presentation highlighting possibility of expanding partnership between Gujarat andAmericain various sectors of development was also displayed on the occasion.
American companies and trade corporations are impressed by how rapidly and consistentlyGujaratachieved economic success after devastating earthquake a decade back.UScompanies are eager to partnerGujaratin the newly emerging fields such as manufacturing, solar and renewable energy, coastal development, urban infrastructure, solid waste management agro processing and dairy industries and environment technology. Mr. Robert Blackwill positively responded to the Chief Minister’s invitation to participate in Vibrant Gujarat Agro High-tech Global Summit scheduled on coming Sep 9-10, and expressed keenness in taking part in Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit-2015 with a delegation.
