Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Germany: Giving thrust to ‘Make in India’

On 12th of April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down at the Hannover airport in Germany. The three day visit held great significance and was aimed at advancing the India-Germany partnershipat the global front. Shri Modi even tweeted and expressed his delight prior embarking on his three nation tour. The Germany visit was quite eventful for the PM. He inaugurated the Hannover Messe jointly with German Chancellor Angela Merkel where India was the partner country.

Germany, considered being among the industrial hubs of the world, known for high quality, efficiency and durability of its products. The country is also a key economic partner to India. The Prime Minister held extensive meetings as soon as he reached Hannover. He met a number of business leaders and German CEOs and put forward the great potential that India has for the entire world.

Shri Narendra Modi also unveiled the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hannover and paid rich tributes to Bapu. A large number of people were present during the occasion.There he spoke about how Gandhiji had been a source of inspiration for the entire world.

Later, Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel jointly inaugurated the Hannover Messe – the world’s largest Industrial fair. Prime Minister Modi expressed his joy for India being a partner country at the Hannover fair this year. He happily noted the efforts made by Germany for giving momentum to the ‘Make in India’ campaign. At the event, the PM said, “Lions are the symbol of a new India.” Shri Narendra Modi outlaid his vision of where there was economic stability, jobs for people and best of the infrastructure. He also sought the German partnership for opening up India’s seamless economic potential.

Pitching for ‘Make in India’, PM Modi further added that it was neither a brand nor a slogan. He believed it to be a national movement for India. Shri Modi invited the business houses to set up and ‘Make in India.’ He considered himself to be privileged for have got the chance to be at the Hannover Messe. Assuring the business hubs that the Indian Government would carry out all necessary measures to make it easy for doing business operations in the country, Shri Modi presented India’s economic stability and the desire to grow as a force of peace and stability in the world.

On the very second day of his visit, PM Narendra Modi and Chancellor Angela Merkel visited India Pavilion at the Hannover Messe.At the India Pavilion of Hannover Messe, the diverse scope that India possessed was showcased to the entire world.Shri Modi invited the world, “Come, and Make in India.” Adding to it, he further said that demography, democracy and demand were drawing the world’s attention towards India.

In his short address, at the Indo-German Business Summit, the Prime Minister outlaid his vision of a developed India. Touching upon the key areas of promoting the manufacturing sector and job creation for youth, the PM assured the German companies about the changing environment in India. Shri Modi highlighted the Government of India’s efforts to create an environment that was business friendly and where approvals for industry were dealt at a much faster pace.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the Government’s effort to encourage innovation, research and development and entrepreneurship in the country.

Prime Minster Narendra Modi later flew to Berlin, where he visited the Siemens Technical Academy.

Shri Narendra Modi also addressed at a community reception where he spoke about India becoming a manufacturing hub which was a matter of pride. He also emphasized on how IT revolution showcased the strength of today’s youth. For India, he said three things were essential to be balanced-agriculture, manufacturing and services sector.

On 14th of April, PM Modi paid a visit to Berlin Hauptbahnhof-the main railway station in Berlin. The Prime Minister discussed several ways of modernisation and advancement of the Indian Railways with the officials at theBerlin Hauptbahnhof. He was informed about the latest technological improvements.

In Berlin, Prime Minister and the German Chancellor addressed a Joint Press Meet. Shri Modi said that the ‘Indian Lion’ and the ‘German Eagle’ were great partners. The Prime Minister noted the enthusiasm of the German industry and invited German business houses to explore the potential existing in India.

Considering Germany to be valued partner, the PM said that a lot could be learnt from Germany on part of ‘Skill Development.’ Shri Modi touched upon key areas of national safety and security. He strongly raised voice for India as well as Germany’s permanent membership in the UN Security Council.

PM Modi also presented the German Chancellor with some manuscripts and papers by Sir C V Raman.

Shri Modi thanked Chancellor Merkel and Germany for giving him such a warm reception over and supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the Indian Government at the Hannover Messe. The Prime Minister expected that in the times to come, the India-Germany relationship would be bolstered and both the nations would work together in mutual interest and for welfare of the people. Taking once again to twitter, the PM expressed his contentment and tweeted in German!
