Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his remarks at the second working session of G20 Summit in Hamburg on ‘Sustainable development, climate and energy’, PM Modi emphasized need for cooperation in world of opposing realities.

PM Modi spoke at length about tech facilitation, ODA commitments, infrastructure, labour mobility and health. He said that G20 needed to step up its role in these sectors.

PM Modi spoke about India's initiatives for SDG targets through consistent roadmap for implementation and the National Review as per UN guidelines. He proposed international coalition of countries that can identify tech, develop systems and build capacities, and added that India was ready to lead.

Stressing on climate change, PM Modi remarked that developing nations needed to have more space to grow.

PM Modi also emphasized that Skill India, Digital India and financial inclusion schemes were India’s own initiatives in consonance with SDGs.

PM Modi meets with President of Suriname

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with the President of Suriname, H.E. Mr. Chandrikapersad Santokhi on the sidelines of the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana on 20 November.

The two leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing bilateral initiatives and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as defense and security, trade and commerce, agriculture, digital initiatives and UPI, ICT, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, capacity building, culture and people to people ties. President Santokhi expressed appreciation for India's continued support for development cooperation to Suriname, in particular to community development projects, food security initiatives and small and medium enterprises.

Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister thanked President Santokhi for the support given by Suriname to India’s membership of the UN Security Council.
