Congress is linking Ram Mandir matter with 2019 elections by urging Supreme Court to postpone hearing: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed public meetings at Dhandhuka, Dahod and Netrang in Gujarat. He attacked the Congress for politicizing Ram Mandir issue by linking it with the elections in 2019.

Addressing a public meeting at Dhandhuka in Gujarat, PM Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar and recalled his contribution towards welfare of every section of society.

The PM remembered how Dr. Ambedkar was passionate about ensuring proper irrigation facilities to every part of India. He also mentioned about Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of creating the RBI.

Lashing out at the Congress party, Shri Modi said, “One family has done greatest injustice to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Sardar Patel.”

“When Pandit Nehru's influence on the Congress was complete, the Congress ensured that Dr. Ambedkar found it tough to join the Constituent Assembly…Congress did not think of conferring the Bharat Ratna on Dr. Ambedkar”, the PM remarked.

PM Modi accused the Congress leaders in Gujarat for ‘Tanker Raj’ in the state and said that the BJP government had brought it to an end.

Speaking about the law and order situation, the PM said that the BJP governments ensured it improved significantly in the last two decades. He added, “There are some words that the youth of Gujarat do not even know. One such word is curfew. Law and order situation has improved tremendously under the BJP governments over the last two decades.”

The PM said that BJP governments in the state had ensured that youngsters in Gujarat got access to technology and there were more educational institutions to study. “Our aim is to make our youth self-reliant”, added the Prime Minister.

On the issue of Triple Talaq, the PM said, “When the Triple Talaq matter was in Supreme Court, the Government had to put their affidavit; newspapers commented that Modi will remain silent because of UP polls. People told me not to speak on the matter else there will be losses in elections.” Adding furthermore, Shri Modi stated that it was a matter for the rights of women and not elections and hence he would not be silent. “Everything is not about elections. This issue is for the rights of women...elections come later humanity comes first”, he said.

The PM alleged that Congress party was linking the Ram Mandir matter with elections by urging the Supreme Court to postpone the hearing till 2019. “A Congress MP Kapil Sibal was arguing (which is his right) for the Babri Masjid. He is entitled to do that but is it right for him to say postpone hearing till 2019? Why does he have to link a Ram Mandir with elections? Is such thinking proper?” questioned the Prime Minister.

At the public meeting in Dahod, PM Modi congratulated the Sunni Waqf Board for their brave stand on the matter and disassociating themselves from the statement of Kapil Sibal. “The Sunni Waqf Board has stated today that yes, Kapil Sibal may be our lawyer but what he said in the court is absolutely wrong. They too want a time bound solution to the matter. Everyone wants a time bound solution except Congress and their leaders”, the PM stated.

Prime Minister Modi hit out at the Congress party for seeking proofs from the army for the surgical strikes across the LoC. He said that the entire country was proud when the army conducted surgical strikes but the Congress was unhappy.

At Netrang, PM Modi said that the region was special for him and highlighted how the BJP government in the state ensured there were no school dropouts. The PM said, “When I took over as CM, people told me school dropout rates in this part are high. On hearing that I decided that come what may, we will get more children to school and we will ensure there are no dropouts.”

Taking a jibe at the Congress, PM Modi stated, “Congress feels only one family won India freedom. They forget the contribution of the tribal communities to India's freedom struggle.”

He attacked the Congress for terming the BJP a government of the rich. He said, “It is the blessings of the poor that make us rich. Our asset is the hardwork of the poor. Our Government worked for tribal welfare, ensured better education, healthcare.”
