Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary Receives Recognition from Ramsar Convention

The Magnificent bird sanctuary of Nalsarovar receives Recognition from Ramsar Convention.

Nalsarovar attracts more than 200 species of birds every winter.

Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is spread over 12,000 hectares that attracts around 75,000 tourists annually.

A destination for Millions of Birds, Nalsarovar gives a delightful view during winters and spring.

Recently, Nalsarovar – a bird sanctuary situated at 64 kms on the west of Ahmedabad received recognition from Ramsar Convention. Ramsar Convention” (signed in the town of Ramsar, Iran in 1971), is a Convention on Wetlands, an intergovernmental treaty that embodies the commitments of its member countries to maintain the ecological character of their Wetlands of International Importance and to plan for the "wise use” in their territories.

The lake spread across 120km is home to numerous rare and common migratory species like Rosy Pelicans, Flamingos, White Storks, Brahminy Ducks and Herons. Not only is it a paradise for the lover of nature, but also Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is also a feast for those who have interest in birds and wildlife. It attracts around 75,000 tourists annually.

Tourism industry in Gujarat marks a massive upswing with 30% rise in tourist arrival in last two year. State Government’s efforts in pace with the vision of Chief Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to promote the tourism Industry has reaped the fruits and placed the tourist destinations of Gujarat on the Global front.

PM Modi to visit Mauritius from March 11-12, 2025

On the invitation of the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will pay a State Visit to Mauritius on March 11-12, 2025, to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius on 12th March as the Chief Guest. A contingent of Indian Defence Forces will participate in the celebrations along with a ship from the Indian Navy. Prime Minister last visited Mauritius in 2015.

During the visit, Prime Minister will call on the President of Mauritius, meet the Prime Minister, and hold meetings with senior dignitaries and leaders of political parties in Mauritius. Prime Minister will also interact with the members of the Indian-origin community, and inaugurate the Civil Service College and the Area Health Centre, both built with India’s grant assistance. A number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be exchanged during the visit.

India and Mauritius share a close and special relationship rooted in shared historical, cultural and people to people ties. Further, Mauritius forms an important part of India’s Vision SAGAR, i.e., Security and growth for All in the Region.

The visit will reaffirm the strong and enduring bond between India and Mauritius and reinforce the shared commitment of both countries to enhance the bilateral relationship across all sectors.
