On the morning of 6th December 2012 senior Congress leader, former Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat and a stalwart of the education, cooperatives sector Shri Narhari Amin joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the august presence of Shri Narendra Modi.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Modi said that today is an important event in Gujarat’s political history and added that whether in or outside power, Shri Narhari Amin has always been with the people. He affirmed that this step by Shri Narhari Amin and his supporters would strengthen democratic forces and give a massive blow to dynasty forces. “This strength will show its outcome first on 20th December this year!” he added.

Shri Modi pointed out that this is not only about Narhari Bhai but also about what kind of political culture we want. “There can be mistakes in a democracy but no one has the right to stab workers in the back. People will lever forget cheating and deceit. See Congress- they cheat and deceit their own leaders too!” he declared.

Profusely congratulating Shri Narhari Amin, Shri Modi said, “This is not a small decision. It takes a lot of courage and conviction” and added, “We are not doing this to become anything but to serve the people of Gujarat, for the good of Gujarat’s future.”

The Chief Minister pointed out that this event comes on the Punya Tithi of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. “Congress gave Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar many troubles but still they could not remove him from the hearts of the people.” He added that the fact that Dr. Ambedkar got the Bharat Ratna after Mr. Rajiv Gandhi is telling in itself.

Shri Narhari Amin said that for the last so many years he served as a worker of the Congress, strengthened its organization day and night for 365 days but expressed clear unhappiness at how the ticket distribution was done for the 2012 Vidhan Sabha elections.

He expressed confidence that on 20th December 2012 Shri Narendra Modi will take hat-trick wicket of the Congress and affirmed that he is joining to strengthen the hands of Shri Narendra Modi, who is working tirelessly for Gujarat.

Shri Amin recalled the 1990 Vidhan Sabha Elections when the Janata Dal and BJP fought together and the Congress won only 32 seats. “On 20th December give them even lesser seats than that” he declared.” He stated that he and his supporters are joining the BJP like how sugar mixes with milk and further said they would be working for BJP in various parts of Gujarat.

He also said, “Forget the 2012 Elections. Shri Modi will be CM again. Keep the target of 2014 elections and send a proud son of Gujarat to Delhi Durbar, this is the work we have to start from today.”

Senior BJP leaders Shri Surendra Patel, Shri Amit Shah were present on the occasion. Many of Shri Amin’s supporters were also present.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
