Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sadhu Vaswani College of Nursing in Pune on 14th July 2013. Dada Vaswani addressed the gathered audience and called for unity and the spirit of giving in everyone. He thanked Shri Narendra Modi for gracing the occasion. Dada Vaswani said India needs the shakti of silent service. “We need leaders who will not scramble for power” said Dada Vaswani. Dada Vaswani told the youth of India to seek not power, but seek service. He urged the youth to be Indians first and volunteer for India first. Dada Vaswani also called for an end to the cult of empty commercialisation. He expressed sadness that India is known to be number one in the world for corruption.

Shri Narendra Modi also addressed the audience gathered on the occasion. Shri Modi said that the seed that Sadhu Vaswani had planted in his lifetime, has been watered and brought up by Dada Vaswani, his disciple in a fine manner. He said that it is easier to find a good teacher, but to find a worthy disciple is rare. Shri Modi said that he is fortunate to be sitting next to Dada Vaswani. But this good fortune was not because of any merit or his public position, but it was due to the greatness of Dada Vaswani. Shri Modi also said that he would not have been able to understand how much spiritual affection Dada had for him, if he had not met him.

Shri Narendra Modi said that he first met Dada Vaswani 23 years ago at a world religions conference in America. He added that Dada Vaswani's words have summarised the way to a better person as well as a better nation. Shri Modi praised the humanitarian work done by Sadhu Vaswani mission. On this topic, Shri Narendra Modi mentioned that cataract operations have been done for the cattle in Gujarat. He also added that due to persistent efforts from the Government more than 112 cattle diseases have been eradicated.

Shri Narendra Modi informed that when he took over as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he was saddened and shocked on knowing about the state of girl child education in Gujarat. He said that it was found that girls were dropping out of school and it was also found that there were no toilets for girls in schools. He said that on knowing this, toilets were constructed for girls in schools and the girl child enrolment increased. Speaking further on the same matter, Shri Modi said that India is the only culture where God has been imagined in the feminine form.

Shri Narendra Modi said that 'Live and let live' is a Western motto. But in India, we go a step ahead and say 'Live, let live, and help people live'. He added that tolerance is touted as a great quality in the world but in India, acceptance, which is a higher quality, is inculcated in our lives. Shri Modi said that to think of service as a goal is what Dada has achieved through his efforts. He added that the way Dada has described him is what he must become. Shri Modi concluded his speech by saying that the whole world needs good nurses and this nursing college started by Pujya Dada will go a long way in helping mankind.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
