Villages got empty, people migrated from Uttarakhand due to the Congress: PM Modi in Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a virtual Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. “First, I bow at the feet of the immortal martyr, Sardar Udham Singh Ji". "Even after independence, from every village of Uttarakhand, our brave mothers have handed over their children to the nation's service," said PM Modi while addressing the virtual rally in the state.

Calling out the fallacies of the opposition, PM Modi said, ”There are some other parties in front of you in these elections. These are the parties who took out enmity from Uttarakhand for years and there are some who have come here with the intention of destroying Uttarakhand. They remained in power for many decades and their leaders kept coming here for excursions still, they never remembered Chaar Dham.”

Elaborating on how Uttarakhand was left out from the development benefits, PM Modi recalled, “At that time Uttarakhand used to be a part of UP itself. They never understood how difficult life is for the people of Uttarakhand due to lack of connectivity.” Further PM Modi told people how the opposition plays politics over the welfare of people. “First, whatever they do, they will do it for the benefit of one family; Second, whatever they do, it will involve rampant corruption in it; Third, they will play politics of appeasement and discriminate in schemes and Fourth, they will hang projects of development for years.”

PM Modi talked about his connection with Uttarakhand “I've always had a special connection with the land and the people of Uttarakhand way back even before I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat”. PM Modi told people that he has known Uttarakhand and its people for years and they too have known the Prime Minister for long

Talking about connecting Uttarakhand to India, PM Modi said “In seven years of our Government, we have allocated ₹33,000 cr for road infrastructure while the earlier government allocated just under ₹3000 cr in 7 years”. Linking road connectivity to ease of living, PM Modi also told people that “Even in this budget, the modern infrastructure of Uttarakhand has been given more emphasis. The roads of Uttarakhand are going to be more modern with the Parvatmala project. By connecting the important pilgrimages, temples and tourist places here by ropeway, the local people will not only get convenience but also employment.”

The Prime Minister brought attention to the medical infrastructure in Uttarakhand. He said, “We are continuously increasing the number of medical seat manifold. We are also expanding the medical college here in Uttarakhand. Now apart from Rishikesh AIIMS, a satellite centre will also start here. This entire area will have a much better treatment facility.”

PM Modi also touched upon the farmers of the state, he asserted, “Earlier in the country when farmers were talked about, it was done through a political lens. The small farmers of the mountains were completely neglected. But today when the government gives PM-Kisan fund, it reaches every farmer's account.” The PM further added that Uttarakhand is today developing tremendously through Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Awas Yojana, Zero-Budget Farming and Ayushman Bharat Yojana with the help of the Double-Engine Sarkar.

Finally, addressing the gathering virtually, PM Modi reiterated, “The Double Engine Sarkar will help Uttarakhand progress even further than what we have imagined, but this progress must not stop due to forces that have ulterior motives which are against the welfare of the people.”
