The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has lauded the inclusion of Kozhikode as ‘City of Literature’ and Gwalior as the ‘City of Music’ in UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network. Shri Modi congratulated the people of Kozhikode and Gwalior on this remarkable achievement.

Prime Minister Modi said that India's cultural vibrancy shines brighter on the global stage with Kozhikode's rich literary legacy He also underlined Gwalior’s commitment to preserving and enriching its musical heritage and said that it is being echoed across the world.

Quoting posts on X by Union Minister for Culture, Shri G Kishan Reddy, the Prime Minister said;

“India's cultural vibrancy shines brighter on the global stage with Kozhikode's rich literary legacy and Gwalior's melodious heritage now joining the esteemed UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

“ग्वालियर और संगीत का बहुत खास रिश्ता है। UNESCO से इसे सबसे बड़ा सम्मान मिलना बहुत गर्व की बात है। ग्वालियर ने जिस प्रतिबद्धता के साथ संगीत की विरासत को संजोया और समृद्ध किया है, उसकी गूंज दुनियाभर में सुनाई दे रही है। मेरी कामना है कि इस शहर की संगीत परंपरा और उसे लेकर लोगों का उत्साह और बढ़े, ताकि आने वाली पीढ़ियों को इससे प्रेरणा मिलती रहे।”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paid homage today to Mahatma Gandhi at his statue in the historic Promenade Gardens in Georgetown, Guyana. He recalled Bapu’s eternal values of peace and non-violence which continue to guide humanity. The statue was installed in commemoration of Gandhiji’s 100th birth anniversary in 1969.

Prime Minister also paid floral tribute at the Arya Samaj monument located close by. This monument was unveiled in 2011 in commemoration of 100 years of the Arya Samaj movement in Guyana.
