The Prime Minister of Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have greeted each other in a unique manner on social media. Mr. Mark Rutte is currently on a visit to India. While Prime Minister Modi welcomed Prime Minister Rutte in Dutch, Mr. Rutte responded in Hindi. Both leaders have expressed enthusiasm to meet each other and strengthen ties between the two Nations.

Prime Minister Rutte tweeted:


“Arrived in India, looking forward to meet you @narendramodi @pmoindia. Some great pictures of #NLIndia friendship.”


To which Prime Minister Modi replied in Dutch:

“Welkom in India @MinPres! Uw bezoek legt de basis voor nog sterkere relaties tussen #NLIndia. Ik kijk uit naar onze ontmoeting.”


“Welcome to India @Minpres! Your visit will lay the foundation for stronger ties between India & Netherlands. Looking forward to meeting you.”


Prime Minister Rutte then wrote in Hindi:


“नमस्ते भारत! मैं आपके सुंदर और जीवंत देश में आकर बहुत खुश हूं। अपनी यात्रा और प्रधानमंत्री @narendramodi से भेंट को लेकर उत्साहित हूं।“



This exchange in the two languages has been widely appreciated on social media.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
