PM interacts with the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat at Ranchi

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Ranchi in Jharkhand on 17 February, 2019. He interacted with select beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Governor of Jharkhand Ms Draupadi Murmu and CM of Jharkhand Shri Raghuvar Das was also present on the occasion.

Earlier today at Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, the PM said thatit is this land of Jharkhand that witnessed the launch of Ayushman Bharat Yojana that has benefitted lakhs of people across India including thousands from Jharkhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolled out the Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana-Ayushman Bharat from Ranchi on September 23, 2018 and termed it a “game-changer initiative to serve the poor“.

Pradhan Mantri Jan ArogyaYojana (PM-JAY) aims to reduce the financial burden on poor and vulnerable groups arising out of catastrophic hospital episodes and ensure their access to quality health services. The scheme envisions health assurance of 5 lakh rupees per family per year, to benefit over 50 crore people, and is the world's biggest health assurance scheme. The number of beneficiaries of this scheme is roughly equal to the population of the European Union, or the population of America, Canada and Mexico, taken together.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the loss of lives in an accident in Nanded, Maharashtra. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

“Saddened by the loss of lives in an accident in Nanded, Maharashtra. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected.
