This is how Modi Govt is transforming the education sector

The Modi Government has been emphasising on transforming the education sector at a rapid pace, with focus on primary, higher and medical education.
Since 2014, Modi Government has announced the setting up of new IITs, IIMs, IIITs, NIT and NIDs. A new IIT and IIM has been opened up every year since 2014.

As of now, there are 23 IITs and 20 IIMs across the country. A new university has been set up every week and two new colleges have been set up every day since 2014. As a result of this, the number of students in higher education has gone up significantly.

Not only this, 22 new universities have been set up in the Northeast and Ladakh has got its first ever Central University, first ever forensic university and rail and transport university have also been set up. Record 71 Indian universities have made it to ‘The World University Rankings’, which is up from 63 last year. Three Indian universities have achieved top-200 positions in the ‘QS World University Rankings.’

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Major focus has been laid on improving the primary education system in the last seven years. Emphasis is on preparing the students for 21st century. Gross enrollment of girls has increased in higher education by 18% from 2015 to 2020, thereby helping realise the vision of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. Pupil-teacher ratio has improved as a result of which quality education is being ensured for the young minds. Along with this, improving the infrastructure of schools have been taken up, 8,700 Atal Tinkering Labs have been set up since 2015. Amenities like electricity, libraries, girls’ toilet, medical check-up in schools have witnessed significant jump in the recent years.

 

 

 

 

Medical education is witnessing rapid improvement. To make medical education more accessible, MBBS seats have been increased by 53%, post-graduate seats have seen increase of 80%. Six new AIIMS have been operationalised and 16 more are in the pipeline. Six new AIIMS have been operationalised and 16 more are in the pipeline.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
