The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Accountants General and Dy. Accountants General Conclave here tomorrow on 21st November, 2019. Shri Narendra Modi will unveil the statue of Mahatma Gandhi before his address to the AsG and Dy. AsG from across the country in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The present Conclave on the theme 'Transforming Audit and Assurance in a Digital World’ is being held to consolidate experience and learning, and chart out the path of Indian Audit and Accounts Department for the next few years. Panel discussions and group discussions are to be held to discuss ways to transform the department into a technology led organisation, given how Government is increasingly being data driven in today's fast changing policy and governance environment.

The department is automating the audit processes internally by implementing One IA&AD – One System. The department is moving towards minimizing need for visiting auditee units and orienting processes to present interactive accounts and digital audit reports. Efforts are also on to institutionalize knowledge base, leverage IT based platform to curate knowledge resources and develop anytime, anywhere learning and IT based toolkits for auditors. In the last few years the Indian Audit and Accounts Department has moved towards transforming audit to meet challenges in the new age, technology driven India.

November 21, 2024

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
