Leading the BJP charge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi started his address by highlighting BJP’s stance on UP. “The people of this area have decided to vote for the one who will take UP to new heights of development, will keep UP riot-free, keep our sisters and daughters free from fear and sends criminals to jail,” he said.

PM Modi spoke on the BJP’s resolution and vision for UP. “The BJP government in UP is necessary for the work that the double engine government is doing”. Speaking further on the situation of the pandemic, PM Modi added, “For the poor to get continuous free ration during the pandemic, for the poor to not face any problem in getting the free corona vaccine, the BJP government is an absolute necessity.”

PM Modi spoke about the BJP’s commitment for welfare of sugarcane farmers. He said, “Yogi Ji's government has given more money to sugarcane farmers than they got in 10 years of previous governments”. PM Modi talked about safeguarding sugarcane farmers from market instabilities by diversifying the use of sugarcane in ethanol production.

On UP and the future of its industries, PM Modi said, “The BJP government is trying to increase the strength of every district, every region of UP, recognizing its specialty. With this thinking, One District, One Product scheme has been started.”

Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi said, “I am seeing these days that some “Pariwarwaad” people are constantly making hollow promises to the public. Do not fall into their traps of hollowness. These people can never think about the development of UP, about the poor. These people neither see nor understand the pain of the poor”. PM Modi also iterated how previous governments failed on the promise of delivering only 500 houses in Saharanpur while the current government has sanctioned 31,000 houses already.

PM Modi also spoke on the issue of social evils “We have gotten rid of ‘triple talaq’ and no one can oppress Muslim women, Yogi Ji's government is necessary for this”. PM Modi further addressed to issue of riots in UP and how certain political personalities used to fuel riots. “Due to such acts, you taught a lesson to these rioters in 2017,” he said.

PM Modi also spoke on the inclusiveness of the BJP Government. “We undertake development and we take equal pride in our heritage. We also built Industrial Corridor, Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. It is our government which has declared 26th December as Veer Bal Diwas in the memory of Veer Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji,” the PM remarked.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
