ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਨਰੇਂਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੇ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਐਨਰਜੀ ਟ੍ਰਾਂਜ਼ਿਸ਼ਨ ‘ਤੇ ਜੀ-20 ਸਮਿਟ ਦੇ ਸੈਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਜੀ-20 ਸਮਿਟ ਦੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਮੂਹ ਨੇ 2030 ਤੱਕ ਅਖੁੱਟ ਊਰਜਾ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਊਰਜਾ ਦਕਸ਼ਤਾ ਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਗਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਥਮਿਕਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬ੍ਰਾਜ਼ੀਲ ਦੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਠਾਏ ਗਏ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਦਸ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 40 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਸ, ਪਿਛਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ 120 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੱਛ ਪੇਅਜਲ (clean drinking water), 100 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਕਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਸਵੱਛ ਈਂਧਣ (clean cooking fuel) ਅਤੇ 115 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਖਾਨਿਆਂ (toilets) ਦੀ ਸੁਵਿਧਾ ਉਪਲਬਧ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਬਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੈਰਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧਤਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਜੀ-20 ਦੇਸ਼(first G 20 country) ਸੀ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ 2030 ਤੱਕ 500 ਗੀਗਾਵਾਟ ਅਖੁੱਟ ਊਰਜਾ ਉਤਪਾਦਨ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ੀ ਲਕਸ਼ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 200 ਗੀਗਾਵਾਟ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਠਾਏ ਗਏ ਆਲਮੀ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਭੀ ਬਾਤ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਸੋਲਰ ਅਲਾਇੰਸ (International Solar Alliance), ਆਪਦਾ-ਰੋਧੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਗਠਬੰਧਨ (Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure), ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਲਾਇਫ (Mission LiFE), ਇੱਕ ਸੂਰਜ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਇੱਕ ਗ੍ਰਿੱਡ (One Sun One World One Grid), ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ (sustainable planet) ਨੂੰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਬਾਇਓਫਇਊਲ ਅਲਾਇੰਸ (Global Biofuel Alliance)। ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਾਊਥ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਦ੍ਵੀਪ ਵਿਕਾਸਸ਼ੀਲ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਥਮਿਕਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀ-20 ਨੂੰ ਤੀਸਰੇ ਵਾਇਸ ਆਵ੍ ਦ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਸਾਊਥ ਸਮਿਟ (third Voice of the Global South Summit) ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਐਲਾਨੇ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ ਕੰਪੈਕਟ (Global Development Compact) ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕੀਦ ਕੀਤੀ।
