I will work for the country tirelessly, says PM Modi

Campaigning in Banaskantha district today, PM Narendra Modi said that the mood of people in the region clearly indicated in which direction the wind was blowing.

Shri Modi said that people of Patan and Banaskantha were well aware of the difference between Congress and the BJP. “When there were floods here Congress MLAs were relaxing in Bengaluru whereas BJP leaders were working with people, helping in relief operations... BJP was doing relief work, Congress was busy with resort work”, he added.

PM Modi remarked that the conduct of Mrs. Indira Gandhi and the Congress in Morbi and the service of RSS and Jan Sangh Karyakartas were for everyone to see. He added that RSS and Jan Sangh did everything possible and stood shoulder to shoulder with people. The PM said, “Those who did not stand with Banaskantha in the bad times of flood cannot be expected to serve either this district or the state of Gujarat.”

The PM spoke how the BJP governments over the years ensured that Narmada waters reach the region. “Earlier, people from here would have to travel a considerable distance to pray to Maa Narmada. Due to BJP, Narmada waters have come to this region and Maa Narmada is blessing us all”, he said.

Highlighting that the region had immense potential for solar energy, the PM said that BJP government was working on solar pumps that would benefit farmers. He also shed light on how neem coating of urea also benefitted them widely.

Taking a jibe at Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comment on removing him, Shri Modi remarked, “Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar told people when he visited Pakistan - remove Modi from the way and then see what will happen to India-Pakistan peace. What did he mean by removing me from the way? And what is my crime- that we have the blessings of the people.”

“When I had taken over as CM, farmers from Patan and Banaskantha met me and I told them to focus on irrigation. People told me this approach will ensure you are defeated. I said- I do not care of the chair, I want to work for the farmers and want to work for Banaskantha, Patan”, the PM added furthermore.

At the public meeting in Kalol, PM Modi hit out at Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibal for linking Ram Mandir case with 2019 elections. The PM remarked, “For the last two days a top Congress leader and an illustrious lawyer has been speaking. He is free to represent whoever he wants to, that is his prerogative. But, why does he want to prolong the Ayodhya Case when all stakeholders want an early solution?”

Adding further, the PM said that instead of coming clear on why he wanted the Ayodhya Matter to be discussed in court after 2019, Mr. Sibal was busy saying whose lawyer was he. “He says he does not represent the Sunni Wakf Board but then he should say who he is representing?” added Shri Modi. He said that Congress should remove such a lawyer from their party.

The PM remarked that chair did not matter for him, but what mattered most was wellbeing of the country. “I will work for the country tirelessly”, he said at the rally in Kalol.

He also accused the UPA government and former Rajasthan CM, who also belonged to the Congress for obstructing the implementation of Sujalam Sufalam Yojana. He remarked, “One Congress leader, a former Rajasthan CM himself, wrote a letter that Gujarat cannot use water from Mahi River. He called for Sujalam Sufalam Yojana not to be implemented he even complained to UPA government. But I said whatever may come I will provide water to North Gujarat.”

He also recalled an instance from Rajkot where Dr. Manmohan Singh was presented a book containing the scams under the UPA.

At the public meeting in Ahmedabad’s Nikol, PM Modi said Congress would not win elections in Gujarat as they had anti-development mindset and believed in divisive politics.

“Politics of development does not appeal to the Congress Party”, remarked Shri Modi.

Highlighting several development works done by the BJP in Gujarat, he said that it was the BJP that built the Sabarmati riverfront. He said that the river was in a pitiable condition when Congress ruled the state. He also spoke how keeping small shops open for longer durations gave several people economic opportunities.

Hitting out the Mani Shankar Aiyar, Anand Sharma and Digvijaya Singh trio, PM Modi said, “They have not called me 'Neech' for the first time yesterday. Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and her family members have used it too. Why am I 'Neech' - because I was born poor, because I am of a lower caste, because I am a Gujarati? Is that why they hate me?”

Adding furthermore the PM stated, “What did Anand Sharma say- PM Modi is mentally unstable. One Congress leader re-tweeted such an offensive Tweet about me that I cannot even say it. What did Digvijaya Singh Tweet about me?”

He noted how Digvijaya Singh had termed Modi Sarkar as ‘Raakshas Raaj’ and called him a ‘Raakshas’; Pramod Tiwari, who headed the Congress in UP, said Modi was in the list of Hitler, Mussolini and Gaddafi; Jairam Ramesh compared him to Bhasmasur; Beni Prasad Verma called him a mad dog and said we won't let this mad dog win; Ghulam Nabi Azad said he was Gangu Teli; Imran Massod, who they gave a ticket to had said he would cut Modi into pieces; Renuka Chowdhury called him a virus and said he would bring Namonitis.

“Day and night the Congress has abused me. I keep quiet only because my priority is work”, Shri Modi remarked.
