Congress is anti-middle class. Whenever it comes to power, both inflation and corruption soar in the country: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed major public meetings in Himmatnagar, Surendranagar and Anand in Gujarat today.

Speaking about the importance of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in deciding the future of India, PM Modi said, “These elections will decide the direction our country takes for the future. These elections will decide if those that have devoted their lives to nationalistic pursuits will prevail or those that indulge in anti-national activities and legitimise them. These elections will decide if the ‘Tukde-Tukde’ gang and its sympathisers will prevail or the proponents of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ will prevail. Thus, these elections are quite crucial for our growing country and I would urge all the voters to exercise their franchise wisely.”

Tearing in on the Opposition parties, particularly the Congress for being weak on terrorism, Prime Minister Modi said, “While on one hand, we have given a free hand to our armed forces to act against terrorists, on the other hand, the Congress’ ‘Dhakosala Patr’ promises several measures that will greatly weaken our security apparatus and demoralise our armed forces. We will never allow this to happen.” He further spoke at length about the ways in which Congress had insulted and humiliated Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and even criticised PM Modi for constructing the tallest statue in the world to honour Vallabhbhai Patel.

Contrasting the sad state of the economy during UPA-I and UPA-II with that of NDA since 2014, Prime Minister Modi said, “Congress is anti-middle class. Whenever it comes to power, both inflation and corruption soar in the country. However, since 2014, our prudent financial policies have ensured that inflation remains under 4% while we have also reduced interest rates on home-loans under the PM Awas Yojana for the benefit of the middle class. While the Congress and its leaders abuse honest tax payers, we acknowledge their contribution towards nation-building and thank them in the Parliament.
