Narmada water meanders in to Dholi-Dhaja Dam: Bestows smiles to millions

Really a historic event, a great milestone in the path forward, Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi dedicated the project which has brought Narmada water flooding the Dholi-Dhaja Dam. It spells a great revolution, the scheme is likely to herald a “Jal-Kranti ‘in to the Saurashtra regions.

With Chief Minister's strong political will, the long cherished dream of the people of Saurashtra –Kutchcha region is realized on Sunday. Technology has made path breaking progress, traversing the long distance, Narmada water meanders in to Dholi-Dhaja dam. The project worth Rs. 535 Crores is manifesting Gujarat's immense potential and engineering excellence. With five giant-size pumping stations, Narmada water is lifted to 71 meters of heights.

Shri Narendrabhai Modi took part in the joy and glory of welcoming Narmada water in to the Dholi-Dhaja Dam. Seeking realise her true potential, Narmada water would bring an end to the water crisis. Not only that, the clean drinking water of Narmada would offer immense health benefits to the people. We can gauge the tangible advantages of it, but the opposition fails to understand the health and many other advantages.

Previously, Crores of rupees were spent to provide irrigation facilities in 2.5 Lakh hectares of Saurashtra; where as the current landmark would enable irrigation facilities in more than 5 Lakh hectares of land, which is really a great achievement in a true self.

He outlined the concrete theme to bring progress and prosperity in the rural areas. The direct benefit of irrigation facilities reaches up to farmers. Since last one year, Narmada base irrigation has yielded optimal results. The economic yield to farmers has increased due to the rise in cotton prices up to 3 to 5 thousands. He made an emotional appeal to the farmers for adopting Drip-Irrigation techniques. Chef Minister expressed his confidence that Surendranagar would emerge the capital of Agriculture-based economic revolution.

Chief Minister announced to construct ‘Terrace Talawadis ‘on PPP model in the hilly regions of Chotila-Tirth. Dholi-Dhaja Dam site may be developed as tourist-spot. He asked to arrange tours of engineering stream students to Dholi-Dhaja Dam to study the excellent engineering feat that has brought the Narmada water up to the Dam. To add to the green cover, every family ought to plant a tree sapling. Chief Minister made some of the inspiring and insightful suggestions, “Dholi –Dhaja dam may offer avenues for the development of water-sports. To mark 60th Republic Day, State level celebrations are to be marked by planting 60000 tree-saplings through public participation.”

Water Resources Minister, Shri Nitinbhai Patel said, “The Narmada canal-based project is quenching the thirst of 5762 villages and 100 towns. We have implemented concrete measures that no village ought to get water through tankers till 2010. Within the short span of one month, State Government has provided drinking water facilities to about 3 lakh people of Surendranagar and Vadhvan through the pipe-lines. “

Education Minister elaborated various development initiatives undertaken by the State Government in the recent past. State level celebrations of Republic Festival would bring Development-Bonanza to the tune of Rs. 500 crores in Surendranagar District.

M.L.A. Smt. Varshaben Doshi also addressed the gathering.

Chairman Narmada Nigam, Shri N.V.Patel highlighted the triumphant initiates taken by the visionary Chief Minister.

Surendranagar and Dudhrej Municipalities handed over cheque of Rs.51, 000/ in to Kanya Kelavani Nidhi.

Minister of State for Forest Shri Kiritsinh Rana, Former Minister Shri I.K.Jadeja, MLAs Shri Shambhauprasad, Mayor Surendranagar Municipality Shri Jashubha, District Panchayat President Smt. Amarben Merani, eminent leaders were among the others who attended the ceremony.

PM to participate in ‘Odisha Parba 2024’ on 24 November

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the ‘Odisha Parba 2024’ programme on 24 November at around 5:30 PM at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. He will also address the gathering on the occasion.

Odisha Parba is a flagship event conducted by Odia Samaj, a trust in New Delhi. Through it, they have been engaged in providing valuable support towards preservation and promotion of Odia heritage. Continuing with the tradition, this year Odisha Parba is being organised from 22nd to 24th November.
