At the outset he thanked the Gujarat BJP, for the opportunity to talk exclusively to the brave BJP women workers. He said that the election results in the civic body elections in UP today, where the BJP has done exceedingly well, have brought about a wave of positivity and excitement across the country. He said that the victory is all the more remarkable, because of the negative impression and the atmosphere of pessimism created by certain elements.

PM Modi took questions from women workers on issues ranging from promising handicrafts in Kutch to increasing women voting percentage. He lauded the women karyakartas for their hard-work and commitment. He also remembered how women of Gujarat used to fast for his safety and well being.

He said that the Indian voter is very mature and people have immense faith in democracy. He said this faith has shown through during elections, even at the most difficult times in the country's history. He said the Indian voter can rise above all negative influences such as casteism and ilicit money power. He said that the UP Assembly results, followed by the civic body results, have proven beyond doubt that the electorate has rejected the negativity created over bold structural reforms such as demonetization and GST. He said similar winds of a rejection of negativity are also blowing over Gujarat.

 

The Prime Minister strongly asserted that the social fabric of Gujarat cannot be vitiated on caste or sectoral lines for electoral benefit. He said that the recent favourable assessments by rating agencies, and the GDP numbers that were announced yesterday, bring good tidings on the economic front.

First such instance that a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will attend the Christmas Celebrations hosted by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) at the CBCI Centre premises, New Delhi at 6:30 PM on 23rd December.

Prime Minister will interact with key leaders from the Christian community, including Cardinals, Bishops and prominent lay leaders of the Church.

This is the first time a Prime Minister will attend such a programme at the Headquarters of the Catholic Church in India.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) was established in 1944 and is the body which works closest with all the Catholics across India.
