CM asks Ayurveda medicos to regain lost shine of Ayurvedic system

CM emphasizes combining modern diagnostic system with Ayurveda

Inaugurating the newly-built Postgraduate Education and Research Complex of Gujarat Ayurveda University (GAU) today Chief Minister Narendra Modi called upon Ayurveda medicos to be committed for regaining the lost shine of Ayurvedic system.

The new complex has been built near the Jamnagar campus of GAU with the cost of Rs.22.30 crore. On the inaugural function GAU signed MOU with Indonesia's Hindu University, middle-east's Emirate Gulf Medical University and Somnath Sanskrit University for the education, research and development in the field of Ayurveda.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said that Ayurveda is quickly gaining popularity across the world. While the Ayurvedic system is well-known in Asian countries, there is a need to make great efforts to raise the level of acceptance of this system among rich countries.

“Ayurveda is an age-old medicine system. There is a need to reestablish it in the world's holistic healthcare market. If this can be done our farmers will start growing medicinal herbs and will capture the world market outdoing China”, said Chief Minister.

Mr Modi stressed for evolving new way of treatment by combining modern diagnosis technology with Ayurvedic system. He also emphasized on good packaging of Ayurvedic medicines and said such measures will quickly grow the acceptance of Ayurveda among the patients.

Ayurvedic practitioners leaving for Allopathy makes people skeptical about Ayurveda. These practitioners should rethink their move as Ayurveda undoubtedly has a bright future ahead, he said.

Chief Minister also inaugurated GAU's resourceful website as well as released nine booklets on various topics of Ayurveda and a CD containing about 40 PG-level research articles.

Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Mr Parbat Patel, Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Pro Vasuben Trivedi, MPs Mr Vikram Madam, Jamnagar Mayor Mrs Amiben Parikh, MLAs Mr Mulubhai Bera, Mr Prabhuba Manek, Mr Laljibhai Solanki, government officials, professors and students of GAU and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
