CM asks Centre to give on lease to Gujarat

the unused stretch of land along both the sides of railway tracks

for growing fodder during drought year

Ahmedabad, Saturday: Chief Minister Narendra Modi today asked the Centre to give on lease, for one year, the unused stretch of land of thousands of acre that lies along both the sides of railway tracks in the State with a view to growing fodder for the animals with people’s participation during the drought year.

Gaushala, panjapol and other animal welfare organizations could be encouraged for growing fodder in such land. This way they can fulfill their social obligation too, he said. He hoped the government of India will take positive approach with this suggestion and for building a network for making available fodder for scarcity-hit animals.

Chief Minister also mentioned the Gujarat government’s initiative for providing the state acquired land along both the sides of Narmada canal to voluntary organizations for one year with a view to grow fodder and building nurseries on it.
