Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi undertook a State Visit to Uganda from 24-25 July 2018. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior officials of the Government of India and a large business delegation. PM Modi addressed the Parliament of Uganda. This was the first address by an Indian Prime Minister. In his address the PM listed out India’s deep rooted ties with Africa adding that Uganda was central to India’s commitment to the continent. He said, “For India, the moral principles of independence movement were not just confined to the boundaries of India.
