PM Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu. Noting that all BIMSTEC nations were strongly connected by civilization, history, art, language, cuisine and shared culture, PM Narendra Modi called for further strengthening the cooperation. Addressing a civic reception at Kathmandu, PM Modi highlighted the deep rooted ties between India and Nepal. He said that Nepal was a top priority for India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. He also complimented Nepal for its commitment towards democracy and successfully conducting federal, provincial and local body elections. PM Modi asserted that India would stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Nepal in its development journey.
