He said that it was his honour to be the first ever Indian PM to undertake this ground breaking visit to Israel. “India is an old civilisation but young nation. We have a talented and skilled youth, who are our driving force. We consider Israel an important development partner.”

Welcoming Prime Minister Modi to Israel, PM Netanyahu said, “Welcome to Israel...Aapka Swagat Hai Mere Dost. We have been waiting for you, for a long time. We love India.” PM Netanyahu also lauded the Prime Minister as a great leader of India and a great world leader. “Together, we can do even more and even better (for India-Israel ties).”

Historic welcome for a historic visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down to a warm welcome in Tel Aviv, Israel. This marked the beginning of a historic visit by any Indian Prime Minister. In a special gesture, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu himself received Prime Minister Modi at the airport. Shri Modi was also given a ceremonial welcome at the airport.
