Mr.Patel said that two separate routes are also proposed for connecting GIFT city and Ahmedabad International Airport. Out of this, one route will reach to airport via AEC junction, Motera and hansol. The other route will go via Kasturbhai campus, going parallel to Sabarmati river, covering GNLU and reaching to GIFT city crossing the Sabarmati river.

The state government is in consultation with the technical experts and has initiated the process of phase-wise implementation of the project. Different tasks related to this project include mono-pile testing, finalization of DPR and various technical surveys, which are on the verge of completion, said Mr. Patel.

Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Rail yet another step towards realizing Shri Narendra Modi’s vision towards comprehensive urban development

In the last decade, Shri Narendra Modi has dreamt of providing Gujarat’s cities with top class facilities be it in the field of infrastructure, transportation or giving a facelift to the cultural landscape of the city.

Some of Shri Modi’s efforts towards strengthening urban development can be seen in the manner in which the Sabarmati Riverfront has development. Earlier known as a ground to play cricket or hold circuses, the Sabarmati Riverfront is today a vibrant blend of culture, recreation as well as aesthetic charm. Recently, KPMG declared the project among the 100 most innovative projects among the world.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is the proud recipient of a special mention in the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize 2012 for development in the field of urban development. In giving the special mention, the prize officials cited the Sabarmati Riverfront, the BRTS and the Kankaria Lake Redevelopment as fine examples of urban development.

Ahmedabad’s BRTS Janmarg has already made a mark for itself as a transport system that has revolutionized urban transport by providing comfortable and cost effective travel to the citizens of Ahmedabad.
