For Congress, national security and defence sector is either a punching bag or a funding source: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with booth-level Karyakartas of BJP in Tamil Nadu today. The video interaction is one of the many such interactions of PM Modi with the booth level Karyakartas.

Beginning his interaction, PM Modi praised the Tamil language and culture saying it is one of the oldest in the world. PM Modi further said, “BJP believes in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. We believe that India can only develop when the North, South, East and West all develop equally.”

Responding to a question raised by a Karyakarta in Kanyakumari, Prime Minister Modi said that the people of middle class in this country have always contributed and sacrificied a lot for the nation’s progress without asking for anything in return. In this regard, he gave several examples of the significant contributions of the middle class people to ensure better living standards for all. He described, “Honest tax paying citizens are the backbone of the country as they contribute to the country’s progress with their hard-earned money.”

PM Modi then interacted with Karyakartas from Namakkal where he was asked about his views on the healthcare system in India. To this, he replied, “It is our firm belief that a healthy India is a pre-condition to a prosperous India. Healthcare must be affordable for all if we want to ensure India’s growth.” He further listed out key healthcare initiatives launched under his government which will go a long way in fulfilling this goal of a healthy India.

The last leg of PM’s interaction with party workers saw him scathingly criticise the Congress for not only ignoring the national security of the country but also for the widespread corruption that bred under its watch. Lashing out at the Congress, he said, “Sadly, for the Congress, national security and the defence sector is either a punching bag or a source of funding. They looted the defence sector under numerous scams from the jeep scam in the 40s and 50s to the Bofors scam in the 80s and several others like Augusta even after that. They are only concerned about the money even if that damages the morale and safety of our forces.”
