Chandrababu Naidu, instead of continuing NTR's promise of a Congress-mukt Andhra Pradesh, has become friends with them and back-stabbed NTR: PM Modi

At the public meeting in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, PM Narendra Modi said that Amravati in Guntur had been a centre of India's faith and spirituality since ages and now it was becoming a centre of energy of a new Andhra Pradesh and New India. “The central government has also selected Amravati under HRIDAY scheme, so that the heritage sites here can be conserved and developed”, the PM added.

Taking a dig at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri N Chandrababu Naidu, PM Modi remarked, “He (N Chandrababu Naidu) promised sunrise for the state of Andhra Pradesh. But he seems interested only in rise of his son. He told me he would turn around the infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh. But he himself took a u-turn!”

“Chandrababu Naidu Ji keeps reminding me he is my senior. But he is senior in backstabbing his father-in-law (TDP founder NT Rama Rao). He is senior in changing parties and making alliances. What has happened to him? Why does he keep pointing out that he is senior?” questioned PM Modi.

Taking pot shots at the Congress, PM Modi said that it was due to the arrogance of the Naamdaar family in Delhi that NT Rama Rao swore to rid Andhra Pradesh of Congress rule. He said, “The Naamdaar family has always disrespected tall leaders.” PM Modi further stated that Chandrababu Naidu, instead of continuing NTR's promise of a Congress-mukt Andhra Pradesh, had become friends with them.

PM Modi further said that Chandrababu Naidu was scared of losing the election and also wanted to bring his son in politics. “Your watchman has made him uneasy,” said PM Modi, pointing towards himself.

The PM also alleged Mr. Naidu for not being accountable to the people and telling what his government did for welfare of Andhra Pradesh. He accused the TDP chief of misusing public money for his several campaign trips and programmes. The PM said, “He is uncomfortable that I ask him for accounts of his work. He is asked to give record of every single rupee of taxpayers' money. People of Andhra Pradesh have the right to know.”

Shri Modi also accused CM Naidu of being a part of the ‘Mahamilawat’ club. He said, “Chandrababu Naidu is going to Delhi for photo-ops with people's money. TDP leaders are being investigated in various cases. CM is part of Mahamilawat club.”

Referring to the TDP Chief’s statement on creation of wealth, PM Modi took a swipe and said, “I heard a statement of Andhra CM saying that Modi doesn’t know how to create wealth…I know how to do it.  He is absolutely right in saying so. Afterall, this is what he has been doing from Amravati to Polavaram and is now afraid of this Chowkidaar! I would like to remind him that we are not here to create wealth for us. We must ensure that the nation’s wealth is judiciously utilised towards development activities.”

The PM stated that when the BJP-led NDA government came to power in 2014, a special assistance package was announced and it was ensured that there was no shortage of funds for development of Andhra Pradesh. “The package was implemented in 2016, was accepted by the Chief Minister himself and he even thanked the Finance Minister at Centre. But since he failed to utilise the package, TDP took a U-turn.” The PM added that the Centre was working on the points highlighted in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act of 2014 and cited projects initiated under the Act.
