The BJP has always been inspired by Atal Ji’s vision for the tribal people which not only led him to create a separate state of Jharkhand but also a separate ministry for furthering tribal welfare: Prime Minister Modi

Addressing his second major rally for the day in Deoghar in Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the state BJP government for its transparent and efficient governance that has enhanced the living standards for the people while also empowering the state’s tribal communities through financial inclusion, employment and access to social security services.

Hitting out at the Opposition parties, especially the ‘Mahamilawat’ alliance of Congress-JMM, PM Modi said, “Be it the Congress or JMM or their other allies in the ‘Mahamilawat,’ their entire election agenda is based on hurling personal abuses at Modi and spreading falsehood and lies which seek to divide people based on caste or religion. Despite ruling the nation for decades, the Congress party treated the tribal communities as a mere vote-bank, without doing anything for their welfare. In contrast, the BJP has always been inspired by Atal Ji’s vision for the tribal people which not only led him to create a separate state of Jharkhand but also a separate ministry for furthering tribal welfare.”

Describing how his government has created effective measures to empower the tribal people, PM Modi said that the implementation of the ‘Van Dhan Yojana’ had ensured better prices for tribal products while also weeding out middlemen and corruption from such transactions. He added that his government’s decision to expand the number of tribal products coming under MSP from earlier 10 to 50 now will go a long way in enhancing employment and workability opportunities to the tribal people and bring them into mainstream by ensuring better prices for their produce.

Prime Minister visited the Indian Arrival monument at Monument Gardens in Georgetown today. He was accompanied by PM of Guyana Brig (Retd) Mark Phillips. An ensemble of Tassa Drums welcomed Prime Minister as he paid floral tribute at the Arrival Monument. Paying homage at the monument, Prime Minister recalled the struggle and sacrifices of Indian diaspora and their pivotal contribution to preserving and promoting Indian culture and tradition in Guyana. He planted a Bel Patra sapling at the monument.

The monument is a replica of the first ship which arrived in Guyana in 1838 bringing indentured migrants from India. It was gifted by India to the people of Guyana in 1991.
