Shri Narendra Modi criticizes Prime Minister for the ongoing power crisis.

Pradhan Mantri ji, 60 cr people & 19 states are in darkness. Country wants to know is there any coalition dharma you are following here too?”

With poor economic management UPA has emptied pockets of common man; kept stomachs hungry with inflation & today pushed them into darkness!”

For the second time in 2 days, Northern Grid suffers failure. Eastern Grid down too.

On a day when both the Northern and the Eastern Grids suffered major failures (the second in 24 hours for the Northern Grid), Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi minced no words in attacking the poor management abilities of the UPA.

In the evening of 31st July 2012, Shri Modi Tweeted, “Pradhan Mantri ji, 60 cr people & 19 states are in darkness. Country wants to know is there any coalition dharma you are following here too?” He added, “With poor economic management UPA has emptied pockets of common man; kept stomachs hungry with inflation & today pushed them into darkness!”

This is not the first time Shri Modi has lambasted the misgovernance of the UPA on various spheres. Recently, he came down heavily on the Prime Minister for being unable to find solutions to the prevailing economic situation. When the international ratings agency S&P downgraded India’s ratings, he again questioned the UPA for their blatant economic mismanagement, saying UPA’s policies were pushing India to the brink. In May this year when the Centre unilaterally hiked petrol prices by Rs. 7.50, it was Shri Modi who took a lead in criticizing the move.

Ever since he took over, Shri Modi laid great emphasis on improving the power situation in Gujarat. Due to the Jyotigram Yojana, all villages of Gujarat enjoy 24/7 power supply. But, Shri Modi did not stop there and called for research to enhance sources of renewable energy. Today, not only is Gujarat a power surplus state but also has made immense advances in the filed of renewable energy.

In April this year, he dedicated to the nation Asia’s largest solar park at Charanka. Gujarat produces 2/3rd of the solar energy produced in the country.  In the same month, he also dedicated to the nation India’s first ever canal top solar power project. Apart from providing clean energy, such an initiative would save lot of land and a crore litres of every year from evaporation. Shri Modi termed it as the ‘innovative merger of Jal Shakti and Urja Shakti.’ Gujarat is making advances in the field of tidal energy and thermal energy as well. Infact, Gujarat’s advances in renewable energy were praised by senior UPA Cabinet Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who holds the renewable energy portfolio.
