Forensic Sciences University to help farm sector in rural development with technological inputs: Gujarat Chief Minister

Ahmedabad, Thursday: Even as the nation is celebrating Swami Vivekanand’s sesquicentennial birth anniversary through yearlong programmes, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today called for a upgrading the skill of youth and coined a new success sutra: ‘SKILL + WILL + ZEAL = WIN’.

Inaugurating the three-day techno-management carnival, called NU TECH-’12 and organised by Institute of Technology at Nirma University here, he said that India has the world’s largest number of youth. It is not enough to make them degree-holders but help them learn the right skills and engage them to solve various problems of the society.

The NU TECH carnival is the first of its kind initiative of 13 students’ groups aimed at the use of advanced technology and management for the development of villages.

He said that villages are fast developing and are already using technology in their day-to-day life. The need is for synergy, assimilation, acceptance and wide use of technology in the fields, at homes, in kitchens, by men and women, by the educated and illiterate people alike.

Mr. Modi cited the example of Gujarat’s Forensic Sciences University, Mr. Modi said is helping farmers in testing the purity and quality of seeds, fertilizers and insecticides with the application of science and technology. The need is for application of technology in qualitative improvement in social, economic, educational fields.

He said the mantra for students of engineering and technology is ‘science is universal, technology for local’. He took round of the projects prepared by the students and wished the students all success.

Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Nirma Unversity’s founder industrialist Karsanbhai Patel, Director-General D N.V. Vasani, Institute of Technology Director Dr k. Kotecha and Dr. D.K. Kothari.
